Whether you’re standing on the decking, sitting in the lounge by the woodburner or gazing out from the mezzanine viewing lounge you will be amazed as the weather systems sweep past from the Atlantic beyond.
Some of the best scenery in Europe is on your doorstep, whether heading north to the Lighthouse near Loch Ewe where the North Atlantic Fleet was based during WW11, or south along to Badachro’s sheltered harbour and on to Redpoint where ’ What we did on our holidays’ was filmed. Driving through the Torridons and over the UK’s steepest climb to Applecross or north to Ullapool and Assynt you’ll be speechless.

The well-equipped kitchen with adjoining larder room provides storage and the dining room comfortably seats sixteen adults. A cosy sun porch facing east from the dining room is perfect for morning coffee.

The unique mezzanine viewing lounge on this upper floor is just the place for a sundowner in hand to enjoy the spectacular seascape views and hear the waves lapping below the house.
Outside the decking surrounding the main living area provides ample seating area to make the most of the landscape. Around the corner the Sauna seating six has windows overlooking the sea, Longa Island and Skye. Enjoying this at dark, cooling under the amazing star-lit sky is sensational as are the Northern Lights! The lawn wraps around the house providing space for playing and outdoor barbecues. From the garden gate, there is a dusty track which takes you down to the shore and on to enjoy the beautiful Big Sand beach.

We had a fantastic mid-September holiday / birthday celebration at Longa House. The location was perfect for our group of nature lovers, providing easy access to the sea for swimming and paddling out to Longa Island. It was also easy to get to Gairloch and to some good climbing and hiking spots by car. There were 14 of us and there still seemed to be loads of space in the house and plenty of bathrooms, so it didn't feel like folks had to queue for showers. The sauna was much used and appreciated. The washer and dryer were handy, especially for those of us who travelled light. When we arranged the dining room table lengthwise, we were able to fit everyone around for supper. Whatever the weather, the views from the sitting room and the patio were stunning. We even had a few shooting stars one night we were there. All in all, Longa House provided the getaway in Gairloch we were hoping it would be :-)

The house is in a wonderful location and is a lovely place to stay. The house has been furnished well but like a number of things it felt tired and past its best. In particular the kitchen sink was difficult to used and outdated and there was a smell emanating from under the sink. There was plenty of cutlery and crockery but no non-stick frying pan. The double beds were uncomfortable and the towels were old and inadequate. To be described as luxury it needs to be updated and perhaps a bath or 2 being replaced by a good quality shower rather than showers over the bath. The only dedicated shower drained poorly so you stood in shower water at the end.
