Three miles east of Inverness is the village of Culloden in Scotland, famed for being the site of the Battlefield of Culloden, the final confrontation of the Jacobite rising of 1745 on Culloden Moor. Today the National Trust for Scotland has a visitor centre which is a popular tourist attraction, which hosts an interactive battle experience with an immersion film battle room. The village was originally made up of estate houses surrounding the Culloden House, but is now home to several holiday homes.
