Guests say

Seafield House in Lairg offers a delightful stay with stunning scenery, cosy comfort, and well-equipped facilities. Guests appreciate the spaciousness, local walks, and friendly community. Some minor cleanliness issues were noted but did not detract from the overall positive experiences.

Most guests found the property clean, with well-maintained bathrooms and kitchen. However, there were instances of stained bedclothes, dog hairs, and unvacuumed rugs. These issues seem isolated and were addressed by the owners.

The location is highly praised for its beautiful scenery, proximity to essential amenities, and friendly locals. It's an ideal base for exploring the north west Highlands, despite occasional noise from nearby establishments.

Guests found the house very comfortable, with cosy warm features, a variety of books, DVDs, and games, and super comfy beds. The wood burners add to the comfort during colder seasons.

The property is well-equipped with a stocked kitchen, separate washer/dryer room, and outdoor washing line. Some maintenance issues like slippy stairs and a need for firmer bannisters were mentioned, along with a suggestion for a smart TV.

While guests enjoyed various aspects of their stay, there were no specific mentions of gifts or extra thoughtful touches provided by the owners. Therefore, a score cannot be given for this category.

Seafield House stands in the centre of the charming village of Lochinver, on the stunning north west coast of Scotland. With spectacular views across the sea to the islands beyond, this bright and spacious, three storey, detached property provides a wonderful holiday home for larger families or groups. Built in 1800, Seafield House was originally owned by the village shoemaker. The owners have carried out a meticulous programme of renovation throughout, whilst retaining a wealth of original features. They have succeeded in creating a unique blend of old and new, using carefully sourced reclaimed materials, as well as exposing original stonework and fireplaces. On the ground floor, there is a large living room with wood burner and lovely views across the sea. The dining room is simply stunning, with an exposed lime-washed stone wall and huge feature fireplace. An open door leads through to the farmhouse-style kitchen with solid wood dressers and work surfaces. From here, a door leads out to the patio area and the wildlife garden, where deer are frequent visitors. Wide, original staircases lead up to the bedrooms on the first and second floors. They are all very attractively furnished and decorated, again using a wealth of reclaimed furniture and furnishings.

Lochinver is a thriving fishing village with a natural harbour. It has a good selection of restaurants, two pubs, small shops and cafes. The stunning white sandy beach of Achmelvich is just 10 minutes’ drive away, and there are numerous sandy and rocky bays along this beautiful unspoilt coastline. Sailing, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, hill walking, fishing and climbing are all available locally. The area is a haven for wildlife, with deer regularly seen close to the cottage and can even sometimes be seen wandering in the garden. Osprey, eagles, seals and otters are all spotted in the immediate area. There are superb walks and climbs direct from the house and the dramatic peaks of Suilven, Stac Pollaidh, Canisp, Quinag and Ben More Assynt dominate the skyline of this wild and unspoilt Highland region. Beach 4 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

It was an absolutely perfect getaway. Plenty of local walks and sat directly on the NC500- every day was a dream and we couldn't believe it was real.

Had a great family Christmas break, the house is lovely and as all you need. The local pubs were very expensive £6.60 for a pint and £18 for a glass of wine! Also children not permitted in the bar by the harbour, so evening wise a little boring (for winter months with 6 children). Luckily we took plenty of games and lego!Location wise, so many beautiful walks, beaches stunning and we was lucky enough to see seals, otters and dolphins. Would really benefit from a smart TV as the DVD player didn't work, just for evenings in winter would be a plus, also only the one small TV.However we had a great time!
