Guests say

This summary has been generated using feedback from guests who have stayed at this property

Guests consistently praise the Signal Box for its unique charm, stunning views, and welcoming touches such as homemade chocolate cake. The property's cleanliness, comfort, and thoughtful amenities contribute to a memorable stay in the Scottish Highlands. The presence of trains adds to the experience without being intrusive, and the location serves as an excellent base for exploring the area.

Cleanliness

Reviewers unanimously commend the property for its exceptional cleanliness, often describing it as immaculate and well-presented, which indicates meticulous maintenance and attention to detail.

Location

The location is highly praised for its beautiful setting and convenience for exploring the Scottish Highlands, with panoramic views and proximity to local attractions. The presence of trains is noted as a unique feature rather than a disturbance.

Comfort

Guests find the Signal Box very comfortable, with special mentions of cosy lounges, wood burners, and quality bed linen. However, one mention of a very firm mattress suggests a slight deduction from a perfect comfort score.

Facilities

The property is lauded for its well-equipped nature, including a sauna and wood burner. The absence of a DVD player, despite being advertised, is a minor point of contention, but overall, facilities are deemed excellent.

Thoughtfulness

The thoughtfulness of the host is highlighted by numerous guests, who appreciate the welcoming gestures such as homemade cake and fresh flowers. While these gifts are warmly received, it is noted that such personal touches, though common, are not guaranteed.

About this property

Something a bit special! This quirky detached wooden property, built in 2004 in the form of a signal box, is adjacent to the station in the Badenoch & Strathspey village of Newtonmore. To make the most of the panoramic views towards the River Spey and Cairngorm Mountains, the accommodation is upside down, with a spacious, open plan living area on the first floor, while on the ground floor are a double bedroom and bathroom with sauna. Decorated to a high standard, this charming property is in an ideal location to explore the village and take advantage of the walking in the area. The cottage is 150 metres from a link into the Wildcat Trail - a 7km orbital walk and path network. The other attractions of the Cairngorms National Park are also within easy reach - an excellent base at any time of year! EPC Rating: Band D

Overlooking the River Spey, in the Cairngorms National Park, Newtonmore has several shops and pubs, as well as the Newtonmore Craft Centre and two excellent, award-winning museums. The area offers fine golf, fishing, pony trekking, walking, bird-watching, cycling, mountain-biking, climbing and skiing, making it an ideal base from which to discover all that this scenic area of Scotland has to offer.
