ANNIE’S COTTAGEEdinbane is an adequate if uninspiring centre from which to tour Skye but Annie’s Cottage itself is less appealing than its online description suggested. It does not match its listing in several key respects. The garden, for example, bears little resemblance to the online photos — it is now overgrown and poorly maintained. The rear garden is unappealing as a place to relax.Inside, the property feels functional rather than comfortable. The interior is gloomy, even on sunny days, and feels tired and dated, with sagging sofas and heavy dark furniture. We also had concerns about the bedding on the single bed; although laundered, it was not perhaps as fresh as it could have been. The mattress was tired and sagging and the pillows were stained. Some soft furnishings (rugs and throws) did not give the impression of being fresh either. The upstairs bathroom has restricted headroom, which may be an issue for taller guests.Parking is described as “on site”, but is along a short potholed track by the nearby village hall, which is inconvenient in poor weather.Much of the printed information provided in folders is out of date, and the welcome pack is minimal (a couple of biscuits and sachets of milk). Communication was limited — our message to indicate our arrival time as requested was not acknowledged, and access details relied on app connectivity. There are some positives: the shower is good, the kitchen is fine, and the property is warm. However, given the overall cost, we feel the cottage does not provide a reasonable level of comfort or value, and the listing is somewhat misleading.

Superb,

We really enjoyed our stay at Annies cottage .Nearly everything in the cottage was excellent. The only thing I found difficult was the sofas which were very old and uncomfortable. After a day of hiking and sightseeing It would have been lovely to relax on a decent sofa .
