Within easy walking distance to the town centre, staying at Skye Snug is a rare treat on the Isle of Skye because you’re able to walk to and back from the pub and a meal out in the evening.
Skye Snug is a perfect base from which to see as much as you can during your visit. The owners have given this wee cottage some care and attention and have created a lovely place to base yourself for a holiday on Skye. There’s a spacious living/dining room, a great kitchen with access to the back garden. And there are two comfortable double bedrooms with lots of wardrobe space.
The location is also very ideal due to its very easy access to some of the Isle of Skye’s most well-known sights. The trailhead for the Old Man of Storr is only 5 miles up the road, so you can be at this other worldly landmark before the crowds! The Quiraing, Staffin Bay, Fairy Glen, Brothers’ Point are also all close to Skye Snug being located on the Trotternish Peninsula. You’re also close to the hiking routes into the Cuillin mountains, just under ten miles to the south of Portree. The Fairy Pools accessed by almost passing the door of the Talisker Distillery (it would be rude not to nip in for a dram!) are definitely worth a trip, as is Glenbrittle beyond the pools. In the north west of the island across the other well-known peninsulas of Waternish and Duirinish you have more amazing places to see and explore. The village of Stein with its inn and Michelin starred restaurant. Dunvegan Castle and nearby Coral Beach. Macleod’s Tables and the Maidens on the coast. As well as iconic Point Neist Lighthouse in far reaches of Skye. You need a week, probably two (and possibly a lifetime!) to explore this great island.
