While a few reviews note minor maintenance issues and occasional discomfort with beds or sofas, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, making it a popular choice for a relaxing getaway.

Most guests found the cottage spotlessly clean and well-presented, with only a few isolated comments about specific items (such as oven trays or plates) not being up to standard. The majority of reviews praise the overall cleanliness.

The location is frequently described as peaceful, quiet, and ideal for exploring the Highlands, with easy access to local amenities and attractions. Guests appreciate the rural setting and proximity to walks and towns.

The cottage is widely regarded as cosy, warm, and comfortable, especially for dog owners. Some guests mentioned issues with the comfort of beds or sofas, but most found the accommodation relaxing and homely.

Facilities are generally well-received, with praise for the secure garden, kitchen, and heating. Some guests noted minor maintenance issues (e.g., garden furniture, fridge seal, mirror, or vacuum cleaner) and suggested a welcome/information book would be helpful.

Many guests appreciated welcome treats for themselves and their dogs, though a few would have preferred essentials like milk. It should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Strathpeffer 1 mile. A charming, stone-built cottage, situated in a quiet hamlet close to the famous Victorian spa village of Strathpeffer. This deceptively spacious Strathpeffer cottage offers up-to-date facilities and is ideal for a family or group of friends who want to enjoy this beautiful part of the Scottish Highlands. With the accommodation all on one level, apart from a small step up to the shower room and kitchen, this Highlands cottage has two nicely presented bedrooms and a tasteful sitting room with welcoming woodburner, making it a fabulous place to relax at the end of a busy day. The well-equipped kitchen/diner benefits from having a door leading out to the pretty front garden where guests can relax with a quiet drink while dinner cooks!

Although quietly situated, the spa village of Strathpeffer is close by and offers a choice of venues for dining, some lively pubs and a busy village shop, plus during the summer months the local pipe band play to entertain visitors. The area has much to offer visitors with an abundance of cycle paths and fabulous walks, as well as fishing in the rivers close by or a round of golf at the Spa Golf Club. By car, visit the pretty Black Isle villages, see dolphins jumping in the Moray Firth and explore the wonderful beaches at Nairn. This Strathpeffer cottage is a super holiday base.

Strathpeffer is a spa village in the Scottish Highlands and has been compared to a Bavarian Mountain resort. In the 1700s, spring water was discovered in the scenic village and was declared as the healthiest drinking water in Britain in 1819. The Spa Pavilion in the village has been superbly restored and is now a venue for dramas, dances, exhibitions and concerts.

Beautiful inside and out. Spacious, comfortable, with eveything we needed. But it was NOT a holiday cottage. It was STERILE. Spotlessly clean, but there was no love there. No welcome note or gift from owner. No information on how and where everything was, or how it worked. No instructions on what to do when leaving cottage. No local information on where to eat, drink, and what local attractions there were. No books, magazines, games, DVD's to keep us entertained Only problem we had was with 'Henry' the vacuum cleaner. He needs replacing. It didn't work very well, and spewed out what appeared to be black dog hairs all over the carpet when we used it. Probably a previous resident

Now the negatives. For most of the week from Saturday the grass in the large garden was long and was eventually cut on the Thursday, the outside light wasn't working which was awkward when our dogs went out at night to do their business as it was pitch black. So we contacted the owner about it and she said she was waiting for an electrician to repair it but in the meantime would supply a large torch but she never did and questioned if it was a problem, which it is if you have dogs and they go toilet in long grass and you don't have decent light. The fridge door doesn't seal when closed so the fridge wasn't chilled enough. The grill pan and rack were disgusting, not cleaned but covered in kitchen foil and the vacuum cleaner was absolutely stinking when using it so we had to air the whole place afterwards. Some of the dinner plates still had food on so not cleaned properly and obviously not checked. The bathroom which was really nice had a great shower but there was mould at either side of the drawer/sink unit. These are simple things to sort for guests. Cleanliness is top priority in our eyes so unfortunately we won't return.
