We’ve just enjoyed another fabulous week at the Mill of Burncrook. The house has everything you could hope for in a relaxing holiday. The dining hall is warm and inviting, the main sitting room is wonderfully spacious, and The Nook offers a cosy alternative when you want a quieter corner. The three double bedrooms are beautifully presented, with one featuring a superb ensuite. The kitchen is exceptional — thoughtfully equipped with absolutely everything you might need — and the kitchen table has become one of our favourite spots for watching the local wildlife. Thanks to the floor‑to‑ceiling windows, every room makes the most of the stunning surroundings. It’s a property designed for comfort, calm, and soaking up the views. There’s plenty to enjoy in the surrounding area. You’ll find a great mix of distilleries, scenic walks, and historic castles, and if you’re happy to venture a little further, a drive across the Cairngorms towards Ballater is an absolute must. We can’t wait to return.

We have just spent Christmas at The Mill of Burncrook and I have to say for location it was the best. Fiona was very helpful and friendly a nothing was too much trouble. Prior to arriving Fiona sent an email which gave us lots of information for our stay plus she called up post arriving to make sure all was okay. The lodge is located on a hill and sits amongst the pine trees with Ben Rinnes located behind. The lodge is laid out beautifully and was built as a home with every detail meticulously thought about. No expense has been spared and instructions on how to use equipment has been provided. The lodge is fairly remote but you do have local amenities nearby (Dufftown & Tomlintou). I organised a supermarket delivery being Christmas which worked out very well. I was a bit dubious making my first Christmas dinner on an Aga, however, I have to say it turned out to be the best Christmas dinner I have had in a long time. A car is needed if you want to explore further a field. We mixed it up a little but were not fussed keep jumping in the car all the time. On one of the days we drove a short distance to Ben Rinnes car park and ventured up 800M or so. A good pair of walking boots is needed and on a cloudy day it can get very cold. On Christmas Eve and being a sunny day we visited the beautiful beaches in Nairn which was dog friendly. We will definitely return to the highlands as there is so much to see and do and The Mill is a perfect base to do this or you can just stay at the lodge, chill, take in the beautiful views and stargaze in the hot tub.

Mill of Burncrook is a stunning modern house with a very homely feel, every gadget you could wish for is accommodated. The aga in the kitchen is great for those true home cooked meals but if you’re a little daunted by using the aga then there’s a modern oven, along with hot plate and induction wok. The fireplaces are a lovely touch and very welcome after a day out in the wilds of Scotland, if you have ventured up Ben Rinnes the view of hill is amazing from the hot tub, especially if you’re lucky enough to also see the northern lights. The beds are so comfortable as are all the rooms, all feature floor to ceiling windows which allow stunning views of the surrounding countryside. If you are lucky enough you may also see the local wildlife cat and deer, there’s also a golden eagle along with kites and buzzards which soar high above the house. There’s so much to do in the area from the local gin distillery just 2 miles up the road at Glen Rinnes to the amazing walks around Dufftown, you will not be disappointed by Mill of Burncrook it is truly a superb location and great for getting away from hustle and bustle. Will definitely be back
