Located almost an equal distance between the cosmopolitan cities of Inverness to the west and Aberdeen to the East, the surrounding area of Moray and Speyside offers a wide variety of experiences and activities for all ages and abilities.
This is Whisky country. The lush, fertile farmlands lend themselves to the growing of crops, much of the grain for use within the Whisky industry. With over half of Scotland’s working Whisky distilleries located within the area alongside numerous craft distilleries and breweries. Many of which can be visited along the Speyside Whisky Trail and experience the unique ‘tipple’ each creates. Even the driver can have their own ‘nip’ to take away!
From fishing to Dolphin watching; Scottish History and culture to beautifully manicured gardens; Scenic walks be it Hill (of which nearby Meikle Balloch can be found on the boundary between Moray & Aberdeenshire), forest or coastal and this being Scotland, golf is never far away. With fabulous sandy beaches just crying out for sandcastles to be built, or why not give surfing a try with the locally based New Wave Surf School? Historic castles are aplenty or for those days when the weather is a little inclement then there is nearby MacDuff Aquarium, so there really is something for everyone.

We had a lovely weekend staying at Meiklle Balloch. The three cabins were perfect and as described. The main cabin was spotless., cosy and comfortable. We were pleased with the large welcome pack of orange juice, bacon, eggs, milk, bread, butter and jam. There were also so cupboard essentials like tea and coffee. The view over the fields and to the snow topped hills was beautiful. It was lovely to have the sheep in the next field. The hot tub was already warm on our arrival and we were able to star gaze while enjoying the bubbles. There were fluffy robes and slippers for trips to and from the hot tub cabin. The BBQ hut was ready for action with BBQ tools, charcoal and matches. There was lots of places to visit close by. We loved Lossiemouth and Cullen.
