No smoking.. Burnside Cottage is a traditional, quaint, simple self-catering cottage set in a peaceful, rural location. Surrounded by fields, trees and a running burn, the cottage is accessed via a coarse track from the main road. If you’re looking for a secluded property, then Burnside Cottage provides a good location for you to relax and get away from it all. The cottage enjoys beautiful views over fields from a small enclosed garden set in further surrounding lawn. There is the benefit of a downstairs bedroom and shower room, ideal for less mobile guests. Situated just 6 miles from the village of Blackwaterfoot where you will find a grocery shop, butchers, golf club, post office, beach and a hotel with bar, restaurant and leisure facilities.
Please note: There is a narrow steep staircase leading to the upstairs bedrooms at the property. WiFi and televison signal can at times of poor weather be unreliable because of the cottage’s isolated location. Although there is accommodation for a maximum of 6 people and this may suit families with children, the owners advise that if adults only are planning a visit then it may be more suitable for 4 (rather than 6) residents

Pets: Your dog is welcome at the property but you will need to bring your own dog bowls and bed. The owner requests that dogs are kept off the furniture and all dog mess is removed from all outside areas of the property. Pets should not be left in the property unattended at any time. Off road parking outside the house for 1-2 cars.

WiFi issues on arrival but this was sorted. TV signal poor. Issue with stair bannister reported and being dealt with. Well equipped cottage with beautiful views. Enjoyed our holiday.

Overall we had a brilliant stay at Burnside Cottage - it's well-kept, immaculately clean, in a beautiful peaceful location, and the price was extremely reasonable. So for our overall experience - 5 stars.When we visited, the shower hose had a leak, so it the shower was very weak - we reported it to the property management team, and while it wasn't resolved while we were there, I am sure it will be sorted soon. A couple of things which didn't impact our stay but which we could see might be an issue for others:- The house has an electric storage heater, electric radiators and a stove (as described in the description on cottages.com). None of these were left on, so the house was stone cold on arrival. It took a while to heat the cottage, and we found the easiest way was to make good use of the stove. I suspect, particularly in winter, it would be a struggle to make the cottage feel warm using just the heater and radiators - so be prepared to feed the fire!- The property is accessed via a "course track" (again as described). This track is gravel with a raised, grassy centre - if your vehicle is even reasonably low riding, you may have issues getting down the track without scraping the underside or catching any splitter or bumper your vehicle might have. Similarly - the access onto the course track from the road is quite a short, steep drop - which again may cause some vehicles issues. - There is parking at the property, but just one space - so if you are coming as a group with two cars, one will have to park elsewhere.

The house information page was out of date, WiFi details were from a previous supplier, the tv was a more modern TV than described, the shower was a waste of time, the microwave should've been retired 10 years ago. Apart from all that the place was fine...
