Carraig Dhubh North sleeps five with its fitted kitchen offering classic wooden cabinets with all that is needed for modern-day living and cooking, and a breakfast bar for convenient dining. The spacious living room features plush sofas arranged around a contemporary fireplace and electric fire, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Large windows allow natural light to flood the space, matched by the stunning views out to the sea from the adjoining relaxing sun living room offering a tranquil retreat after a long day. This cottage offers a large twin room downstairs and a spacious triple room upstairs with kingsize bed and single bed. The bathroom has a shower conveniently placed over a large traditional bath.

We had a wonderful stay at Carraig Dhubh North . I used to holiday there as a child and have stayed in all of the Carraig Dhubh dwellings over the years, so it was a real pleasure to return and share the experience with my own family.I deliberately didn’t read any reviews beforehand, as I like to approach places with an open mind. However, having now stayed, I do have to agree with the other reviews regards the bed in the main bedroom — it is unfortunately very uncomfortable. It creaks loudly with even the slightest movement, and the mattress sags noticeably in the middle. My husband and I ended up taking turns sleeping in the single bed to get a better night's rest. I’d go as far as to say the bed really was appalling. I have contacted the owner since returning and they welcomed the feedback and indicated that they would be changing the bed, so it maybe worthwhile asking if this is the case before you make a booking. One matter I feel is important to highlight relates to safety: the interior glass doors on the ground floor. On our first evening, my son ran into one, not realising it was closed. He suffered a cut to his lip but thankfully nothing more serious. That said, we were concerned that the glass may not be toughened — I couldn’t find a safety marking to confirm — the owners have since confirmed that is it and have also agreed that to add a sticker or marking on the glass would be a simple but effective safety measure. The foldaway table was damaged and falling apart with some screws missing but someone was dispatched to fix it as soon as I reported it. Aside from these points, we found the cottage to be clean, well-equipped, and a lovely base for our holiday. The decor is dated in parts but I don’t think that matters and is reflected in the price. For us the location was perfect. Situated right at the end of the village and across the road from the beach. It was very quiet which is how we like it. There is a pub about half a mile away and the local shop is very well equipped and about a mile and a half away. We would be delighted to return in the future.
