Please note: This property has a natural water supply via a spring.. Castleside Croft is a beautiful semi-detached cottage which enjoys views across the Firth of Clyde towards Pladda and Ailsa Craig. As the name suggests, the cottage is beside the old ruins of Kildonan Castle (no access to the castle), giving a unique view of the castle and the sea. The living room has patio doors which lead out to the south-facing garden. Outdoor furniture is provided so guests can enjoy the sea views whilst relaxing in the sun. Inside, the bedrooms are traditionally furnished. There is a bunk bedroom on the ground floor, ideal for children, and two bright and spacious bedrooms on the first floor. The double bedroom has a Juliet balcony overlooking the garden, with castle and sea views. You will find a beautiful beach just a 5 minute walk away, where seals are a common sight. Castleside Croft is in an ideal location for families and friends wishing for a relaxing seaside holiday. Hotel bar and restaurant 5 minute walk.

If you like remoteness then this cottage is perfect, wouldn’t say it’s for families with teenagers or you children.As with previous comments the porch/ utility room was awful when it rained as the roofed leaked and the toilet in there was horrible.. In general all the furniture in the house needed dusting as there was plenty of it, however the beds were clean. I would recommend you take some basics with you as there wasn’t even a few tea bags, coffee milk etc. The island was beautiful and the locals were very friendly.

Overall perfect for what was needed. Warm, clean, great location though those not used to rural living might find it less perfect.There IS an issue with the porch area leaking, maintenance men came to review it during a storm and said there wasn’t much that could be done though they dried it up and tried to seal some of the leaks, it didn’t cause any inconvenience because I chose not to use the downstairs toilet and didn’t use the area for storage. There was a broken blind in the bedroom which was a shame as it hindered the view. However the one thing that I thought was disgusting wasn’t related directly to the cottage but the staff employed to care for it - a gardener arrived one morning to strim/cut the grass, when he’d finished he left the gate wide open - my dogs are well trained and didn’t wander plus I went to check it was closed but it could have been tragic for anyone whose dog/s wander. Castleside Croft was good for us and I’d probably return

Fantastic location, cottage has the feeling of an old well loved family holiday cottage with eclectic mix of furniture and well worn sofas. Clean (except for porch toilet space) with nice bedding and comfortable beds. Mix up with cottages.com who said there was no cot or high chair available when there they were, in a cupboard. Would have saved us some packing space. As per some previous comments, there's clearly some work required with leaking roof in the porch as we found out in heavy rain. But overall, we liked it and would come back again
