It lies a quiet location overlooking open countryside and Calliums Hill, making this is an ideal location to enjoy a relaxing holiday in good quality accommodation. It is a brilliant spot for couples who want to enjoy a quiet, romantic break, or for a small family wanting to discover this most scenic area of Strathearn in Perthshire, which is known as the ‘gateway to the Highlands’.
Just a few minutes’ walk away is the centre of the charming market town of Crieff, which has an excellent selection of small local shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés, as well as a great variety of sporting and recreational facilities, including Crieff Golf Club, which is rated as Scotland’s finest inland golf course. The town also boasts two parks and riverside walks along the River Earn and River Turret. Just on the outskirts of the town is the famous Glenturret Whisky Distillery, the oldest working distillery, which offers tours. Crieff offers events throughout the year including the Crieff Highland Games, a music festival, a farmers’ market and the Autumn Drovers’ Festival.
This area of Strathearn is ideal for walkers and cyclists or for those who wish to relax and unwind. If you prefer more strenuous activities, then mountains such as Ben Vorlich, Ben Chonzie and Ben Lawers provide some excellent walking in dramatic scenery, and water sports are available on Loch Earn. A little further afield, but still within easy driving distance, you are able to enjoy day trips to the magnificent Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, or visit the attractive small villages in the area. Still within easy driving distance, day trips can be enjoyed at Stirling which offers retail therapy as well as visitor attractions including Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument. Perth, on the banks of the River Tay, offers a theatre and a historic city centre with shopping and places to eat.
After spending your day exploring, the Hoolit provides a welcoming home to return to, where you can relax in the hot tub and admire the the view. Local wildlife, including deer and wild birds, are frequent visitors. Shop 900 yards, pub and restaurant 500 yards.
