About this property

This end-terrace cottage is located in the heart of the thriving fishing village of Eyemouth, on Scotland's beautiful Berwickshire coast. An ideal cottage for family or friends, in a convenient location, less than one minute's walk to the beach, shops and pubs. Creel Cottage is aptly named, as it is one of the oldest buildings in Eyemouth, and was used to store the fishing nets in between trips on the turbulent North Sea. The ground floor has a spacious dining room and the sitting room is bright and airy, a lovely spot to curl up with a book after a long day’s castle construction on the beach.

The first floor kitchen is well equipped and has a handy breakfast table and chairs. Three first floor bedrooms and a family bathroom complete this pretty little cottage. Stroll along to the beach at any time of year, whether on sunny days to picnic on the sands, or on winter days to blow away the cobwebs with the children and dogs in tow. As well as the sandy beach, there's also a good selection of cafes, shops and bars. Days out along this rugged coastline are varied and endless, visitors can enjoy coast path walks, watch the day’s haul being landed, play a round of golf or explore the nearby castles of this Heritage Coastline.

A perfect cottage from which to explore this lovely part of the country.

Situated on the east coast, just over the Scottish border, and only eight miles north of Berwick upon Tweed, Eyemouth has been a bustling fishing port for centuries, and there is still a fish market supplied from local fishing boats today. Narrow cobbled streets preserve the ancient character of this delightful coastal town, and there are a number of visitor attractions outlining the history of the area. Visit Gunsgreen House and learn some of the history of the town and the smuggling that once took place, or enjoy the museum, fishing heritage centre and art galleries on offer.

Jo is such a lovely lady and her communication is excellent. You want for nothing in this cottage Jo has absolutely everything covered. The welcome pack was lovely, our Buster certainly enjoyed his chews. The shops pubs etc are a stones throw away, it is absolutely perfect and we would love to return in the summer months. There’s nothing to complain about. We didn’t really know what to expect with this booking because the cost was so cheap especially for Christmas, we usually pay more than double for cottages at this time of year. As a property person I do think if Jo decided to do slight renovations, knock the single bedroom into the bathroom and make a twin room, move the bathroom into the kitchen with a walk in shower, move the kitchen into the dining area and make it a wow factor as you enter the cottage, put an obolong dining table down the centre ( seen all this in numerous cottages) and add a mini stairlift Jo could easily command around the £2000 a week rental for peak times. It would also generate extra interest from disabled people. All in all a wonderful cottage wonderful location a fantastic time was had. Highly recommended.

We have been to many holiday cottages over the years and this is definitely one of the best we have stayed in. The owner obviously takes pride in the cottage and this is reflected in the "above and beyond" way that the cottage is presented and equipped and the communication we received from the owner. Everything is provided and more. We had the wildest of winter weather while we were there but it was lovely to come back each day to the cosy, comfy cottage to relax. If you have dogs the cottage is particularly doggie friendly with extra towels, lead and dog bowls provided. The beach is literally a stone's throw away so your furry friends are well catered for. There is also a Co-op within walking distance which is an added bonus. This is our first time in the Scottish Borders and it will definitely not be our last. There is lots of exploring to be done and we have already booked to come back in May!!!

What a fantastic location. We enjoyed our early morning beach walks, literally on your doorstop, then coming home to this beautiful cottage to relax for the evenings after a day of exploring. It is so well equipped and feels like a home away from home. We would love to come back in the near future and definitely would recommend to anyone.
