Craik Forestry Cottage is a cosy and comfortable retreat nestled in a stunning, peaceful location with breathtaking scenery and forest walks. Guests appreciate the enclosed garden for pets, the warm atmosphere, and the well-equipped space, despite some noting the distance to shops and minor maintenance issues.
The cottage received mixed feedback on cleanliness. While not mentioned by all, some guests noted dust, cobwebs, and a few instances of unemptied bins or leftover items, suggesting room for improvement.
The location is highly praised for its beautiful setting and proximity to Craik Forest, offering stunning views and walks. However, the distance from the main road and shops was a minor drawback for some.
Guests found the beds extremely comfortable, with good quality bedding and fluffy towels, contributing to a restful stay. The cosy and warm atmosphere of the cottage was also commended.
The cottage is well-equipped with necessary appliances and a good-sized lounge. Some guests mentioned minor maintenance issues like a broken grill handle and an oven door that opens on its own, indicating some areas for attention.
While guests appreciated the overall experience, there was no mention of gifts or special touches that would fall under the category of thoughtfulness. Therefore, this score is set to null.

When it comes to activities, you won’t have to travel far to find something exciting to do.
This semi-detached house is is an ideal retreat for either a family of five or a small group. All three bedrooms are located on the upper floor, whilst the bathroom is on the ground floor. The main living space is also on the ground floor, too, where you can sit and relax at the end of a day spent exploring or engaging in activity-based fun in the surrounding area. Kick back and relax in front of the wood burner on a chilly evening, while the ‘chef’ enjoys preparing and cooking on the larger range cooker. Whether you choose to sit outside in the rear garden taking advantage of that view or sitting at the table in the kitchen you’ll have plenty space. At the rear of the kitchen a utility area which is ideal for storing muddy boots and drying off muddy dogs. Both the front and sizeable rear gardens are enclosed, and the rear enjoys a stunning open view over the surrounding countryside and forests.
Whatever the reason for your visit to Craik Forest, you’ll not be short of things to do and explore. Those who enjoy being fit will have a great time exploring the surrounding hills and walks and participating in the array of activities.

What a hidden gem. The road in is fabulous. You aren’t totally isolated which is good. There’s everything you need at the cottage. We absolutely loved our time there.
