The Bothy is a well-liked cottage offering a warm, relaxed space with great walks, including along the River Tweed. Its central location is praised for accessibility to local sights and the convenience of a nearby cafe. The property is described as comfortable, well-equipped, and good value, with friendly owners and a peaceful setting on a working farm.
The cleanliness of The Bothy has received mixed feedback. One review mentioned it being quite dirty, which suggests room for improvement. However, another review described it as clean and tidy, indicating some inconsistency in cleanliness standards.
The location is generally appreciated for its central position on a good bus route, proximity to the River Tweed, and the ease of accessing walks and local sights. While Walkerburn is described as run down, the nearby village of Innerleithen offers more attractions.
Comfort at The Bothy is well-regarded, with mentions of a very comfortable bed and a warm, relaxed atmosphere. However, there are comments about a temperamental shower and a high step, which could affect the comfort level for some guests.
Facilities are deemed basic but adequate, with a well-equipped property and good condition mentioned. However, there are remarks about a temperamental shower and a smelly hoover, suggesting some maintenance issues.
There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess the thoughtfulness category. Therefore, this score is set to null.

The property accepts dogs either in the Bothy itself, in the laundry or if your pooch prefers the outdoors then comfy kennels are available. If your pet is somewhat larger and requires a trailer and saddle then Caberston Farm can provide ’Bed and Bale’ for horses and if you need some time away then the farm staff can even look after your four-legged friend to give you a little break. We can also organise horse hire and hacks for you. Grass livery and hay are available from the 20-horse livery business on the farm. The farm stretches across 200 acres and while principally it is a sheep farm it now has a Christmas tree farm, horse livery, sheep dog training academy and forestry.
The owners will be happy to tell you the best bits to explore and where to find the most beautiful walks and views. The area around the farm is famed by mountain bikers as two popular routes are nearby. ’The Golfie’ neighbours the farm while ’Feed the Pony’ actually runs through the farm. Nearby a plethora of activities and attractions await your exploration. We challenge you not to enjoy your stay and the hospitality here at Caberston Farm.
