The cottage has wonderful views in a true "get away" from it all location on a working hill farm. Although you will be looking out at 10,000 acres of sky it is still well located to give easy access to the surrounding area and also the Borders towns of Biggar, Peebles, Galashiels but also not forgetting Scotland's principal cities, Glasgow and of course Edinburgh.
The farm is in an Environmentally Sensitive Area so the wildlife on the doorstep is superb with opportunities to see Hen Harriers, Buzzards, Curlew, Oyster Catcher and Red Shank, to name only a few. Herons also often nest on the small burn which runs in front of the cottage, a short distance away.
Outdoor pursuits are numerous including 7 miles of tracks to walk on the farm or a hill walk to Wanlockhead, Scotland's highest village. The long distance Southern Upland Way is also close by. Fishing is available for brown trout on the farm, go on catch your breakfast or supper! The picturesque Clyde and Nith are close by offering opportunities to take a day's salmon fishing. Golf is available at many local courses and suitable for all levels.
Local places to visit include the World Heritage Site at New Lanark which recreates life in the heyday of the woollen mills during the industrial revolution, there is also a nice riverside walk to the Falls of Clyde. Gold panning can be tried at Wanlockhead and the adjacent village of Leadhills has a lead mining museum with working railway. For those wishing to eat out, The Colebrooke Arms in nearby Crawfordjohn serves good "pub grub" booking is advisable.

Damage Deposit for care of property
All holiday-makers booking a holiday are required to pay either a Refundable Damage Deposit, £150 or as noted in the property listing details, or Damage Deposit waiver of £18, whichever is selected is required to be paid with the balance payment of the holiday. Where selected the Damage Deposit will be held by the property manager to be applied against the reasonable costs of repairs, replacement or additional cleaning of furnishings, kitchen equipment, crockery, glass, bedding and towels damaged or soiled other than by normal wear and tear during the holiday. The Damage Deposit, less any reasonable charges, will be returned within 14 days of the departure date. Where any costs exceed the Damage Deposit the holiday-maker will pay such excess as notified to them by the property manager within 14 days of notification. Where the holiday-maker has agreed to pay the Damage Deposit Waiver the Damage Deposit is not payable. This amount is non-refundable. If the cost of any damage or breakages exceeds the applicable Damage Deposit value for the property, then the holiday-maker will be liable for any additional costs. Any such excess will be notified to them by the property manager and due for payment within 14 days of notification.
