About this property

Stornoway 35.8 miles. Overlooking the spectacular Uig Peninsula on the Isle of Lewis, Atlantic Longhouse is perfect for families or couples travelling together and is situated within a small crofting village; a magical place where it feels like time stand still and there is nowhere better to enjoy a holiday getaway. This stylish holiday lodge is the perfect place to come home to at the end of an exciting day of exploring the wonders of the Isle of Lewis. Don’t let its utilitarian exterior fool you – inside an elegant and spacious pad awaits. The impressive open-plan sitting and dining room is warm and welcoming with feature floor-to-ceiling windows maximising those stunning views where you can watch the waves crashing below and the seating area is the perfect spot for curling up and catching up with loved ones.

The well-equipped kitchen offers a good workable space for producing delicious family meals where the designated chef can rustle up some tantalising fayre showcasing the wonderful produce available locally. A charming dining area provides a great spot for tucking into a tasty meal and again you can take in those all-important views at the same time. It’s not far to stagger to bed after a hard day of holidaying and the king-size bedroom is perfect for snuggling down with more wonderful views from the feature window and the twin bedroom has delightful views too. Morning or evening there is something different to see from the attractive outside decking area so throw open the patio doors, take a seat on the deck and let the outside in so you can really soak up the views of rolling countryside in one direction and the rugged cliffs in the other.

Tempting as it is to hunker down and enjoy the comforts of Atlantic Longhouse, it would be a shame to miss out on the wealth of attractions and activities on offer here. Check out Uig Peninsula with its world-class beaches perfect any time of year whether you’re just taking a gentle stroll or looking for some surfing action. If fishing is your thing then you can try trout fishing or sea and loch fishing with rod hire available nearby, and there are loads of great hill walking routes close by too. A short but scenic drive away are the infamous Callanish Stones which are a must-see and Uig is only a few miles from the lodge.

Stornoway is less than an hour’s drive away and is great for a day out and for exploring further afield. Atlantic Longhouse is a holiday lodge with a difference and offers guests a stylish stay in rugged surroundings. The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Tarbert, or Ullapool to Stornoway.

Stornoway is the only town in the Outer Hebrides and is a bustling and growing area with a busy working harbour, a great selection of shops selling local gifts including Harris Tweed, leisure facilities and wonderful award-winning restaurants selling locally sourced food of the highest quality. Lewis is a place where the lilting Gaelic language is spoken everywhere! Visitors to the town will find plenty to keep them occupied, the magnificent Lews Castle Grounds and the iconic Lews Castle, many good museums and art galleries and also a smart golf course and clubhouse. The large, quiet sandy beaches are close by and provide visitors with wonderful views and the town itself forms a great base for a holiday exploring the unique islands that form the Outer Hebrides. On the north west side of Lewis you can visit the village of Arnol with its Blackhouse Museum, an unmissable visit for anyone wanting to understand the way of life that was once widespread in Lewis. Carloway Broch is nearby and is another fascinating landmark and incredibly well preserved. The Callanish Stones from the Neolithic are also well worth visiting. The whalebone arch and numerous Iron Age dwellings on stunning Bosta beach make for great days out. The friendliness of the local people will astound visitors to the islands and you cannot fail to be impressed with the genteel and contented pace of life you will encounter here.
