Beaumaris is a mediaeval town on Anglesey overlooking the Menai Strait and Snowdonia, making for magnificent sunrises. With its World Heritage-listed mediaeval castle, Victorian pier, gaol, and courthouse, it's a prominent sailing centre. Beaumaris' mediaeval street pattern has been preserved. Setting, architectural styles and periods, scale, open spaces, roofing, and quality add to the town's character. The town has stores, restaurants, pubs, fishing, boating, and a golf course. Red Wharf Bay, also known as Traeth Coch (Red Beach), is famous for spectacular sunsets. At low tide, 25 square kilometres (10 square miles) of sand are exposed, enabling safe bathing, family fun, fishing, and miles of gorgeous hikes. Holyhead offers boat connections to Dublin. Beaumaris, on the south coast of Anglesey, is a wonderful base for travelling Wales and is close to Snowdonia.

Kitchen is well equipped. The particulars should explain clearly that it is essential to buy logs and use the log burner in cold weather, as the background heating is not enough. The cottage was very cold when we arrived, because the thermostats on the storage heaters had been turned up too high. It took us a couple of days to work this out.

It was windy when we were there and we noticed a cold draught coming in over the top of the front door where there's a gap between the frame and the wall - we stuffed a scarf in it which stopped the draught!

Ideal location for walks and exploring the rest of Angelsey. Handy that Beaumaris is so close especially for wetter days.
