In Beaumaris, a well-known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey that is perched on the Menai Strait and looks out over the Snowdonia Mountain range, one may witness the most breathtaking sunrises. With its Edward I-era mediaeval castle (now a World Heritage site), Victorian pier, jail, and courthouse, it is also well recognised as a prominent sailing hub. Beaumaris has a long history and most of its original mediaeval street layout is still present. Characteristics of the town include its setting, diversity of architectural styles and ages, varying scale, open spaces, various roofing, and general level of quality. The town provides a good selection of shops, restaurants, and pubs in addition to a golf course nearby, as well as opportunities for boat trips and fishing. The large bay along the coast known as Red Wharf Bay, often called Traeth Coch (Red Beach), is well-known for its breathtaking sunsets. It is safe for swimming, great for family outings, fishing, and miles of breathtakingly gorgeous treks thanks to the bay's exceptional shallowness, which exposes about 25 square kilometres (10 square miles) of sand at low tide. The farther-off port of Holyhead has frequent ferry service to Dublin.
