Located on Holy Island, three miles from Trearddur Bay, Rhoscolyn is a small village with a church and primary school and is the most southerly place on Holy Island. Rhoscolyn also offers an excellent pub on the lane down to the beach, which is renowned for its gastro food, and the beach itself with its slipway, ideal for small dinghies and power boats, is a popular family destination throughout the summer owing to the sheltered cove and gently sloping sands. Also excellent cliff-top walks can be enjoyed and an abundance of wildlife can be seen, often including seals on the headland. Just two miles away is the village of Valley, which has a Post Office, chemist, shops and eating places, plus the nearby resort of Trearddur Bay is situated on the western shore of the island and is truly beautiful with a great sweep of low grassy coastline indented with rocky coves and fine Blue Flag sandy beaches. There are shops, pubs and restaurants in Trearddur Bay itself and nearby Holyhead offers a wider range of amenities, including a very good leisure centre, supermarkets, harbour front, a marina, the world’s second longest breakwater and exciting day trips to Dublin on the ferry. Watersports, bathing, sailing, windsurfing and horse riding are the main activities in the summer months, plus golfers will enjoy the excellent Holyhead 18 hole links golf course, and the area is also a great place for nature lovers with renowned birdwatching at the South Stack Lighthouse rspb Reserve. An excellent location with plenty to see and do!

If you like a quiet peaceful place this is the place to come to . The property is a little bit tired but nothing serious except the veranda does need some attention, especially the hand rail which wouldn’t take long to repair. We would definitely recommend to other people. There’s a lovely beach not far away and a brilliant pub the White Eagle very close by that serves excellent food . We will definitely be looking at coming back next year as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay . The weather was in our favour too which was perfect. Thankyou for a lovely holiday.

The beds were super comfy ensuring a great nights sleep. It was nice to have a range of areas to sit in dependent on weather and wind, and it is an amazing spot for star gazing too - we even got to see some aurora activity on two nights! The trainer planes/jets from RAF Valley were not an issue for us at all - the noise was not excessive and the hours were reasonable. It was nice to watch them pass. You are some distance into a private estate but we walked down to the beach a few times which was stunning with the mountain backdrop, walked to the White Eagle for an exceptional evening meal and cycled to Trearddur Bay one evening too for cocktails and live music at the Ocean’s Edge. We did have a couple of issues during our stay. We were unable to access the wifi due to a password issue and one of the bedroom main lights was not working. I tried to contact the company from the Sunday morning but they did not respond effectively in a timely manner and so it was Thursday before aid was offered. (Note the delay was due to Menai holidays and not the owner). The property does look a little tired in places, although some of this will be due to withstanding the elements in this exposed location. Overall, we had a very comfortable stay and the setting was exceptional. Recommend this place if you want a big hug from nature!

We brought along with us a bit too much as we were led to believe that there would be hardly any provisions, but we were pleasantly surprised. (We didn't need to bring hand-washes, tea towels, or a cafetiere, but were glad we brought salt and pepper and milk.) Better to bring something and not need it rather than not have it. The huge conservatory with it's comfy chairs was a real plus, lovely and warm in there if the breeze was a bit cold outside. The DVD player worked great, (more and more cottages aren't including that in their listing and it's a real deal breaker for us, especially if the Wi-Fi is intermittent - though the Wi-Fi here worked fine throughout). Circular walks on the door step, no shortage of hangers in the wardrobes. Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the grounds, and explore the surroundings. We never stay at the same place twice, but actually found ourselves considering a return visit.
