Guests say

Swallow Cottage is a peaceful and well-equipped retreat, praised for its comfortable beds, spacious conservatory, and tranquil rural setting. Guests appreciate the excellent kitchen facilities, cleanliness, and the helpfulness of the owners. The cottage is ideal for exploring local beaches and countryside walks. While most experiences are positive, some guests noted issues with the oil-fuelled boiler, occasional damp, and the access lane's potholes. Overall, the property offers a cosy and relaxing base for a Welsh getaway, with thoughtful touches and responsive hosts enhancing the stay.

Most guests found the cottage very clean, with spotless interiors and high-quality linens and towels. A few reviews mentioned minor issues such as damp in bedrooms and a blocked bath, but these were exceptions rather than the norm.

The rural location is widely appreciated for its peace, proximity to beaches, and excellent walking opportunities. Some guests noted the approach lane is very potholed, which can be challenging for standard cars, and the view from the front includes farm buildings.

Guests consistently mention comfortable beds, a cosy atmosphere, and the benefit of a spacious conservatory. Occasional issues with damp and boiler odours affected comfort for a few, but most found the cottage warm and inviting.

The cottage is described as very well equipped, with modern kitchen facilities and responsive maintenance (e.g., quick replacement of appliances). Some maintenance issues were reported, such as boiler breakdowns and a broken blind, but owners acted promptly in most cases.

Owners are frequently praised for their helpfulness and quick responses to issues. Some guests mention thoughtful touches such as milk on arrival and Christmas decorations, but please note that such gifts or extras are not guaranteed for every stay.

Gower is home to over thirty beaches and coves, many are dog-friendly, and most are just a 20-minute drive. Five minutes from your doorstep there are cycle paths (car free, mostly flat and family friendly) that can take you to Mumbles or, if you are feeling energetic, Pembrey Country Park with its 8-mile-long sandy beach and plenty of activities for kids. There are around 27 miles of cycle paths to explore in Gower and many more footpaths. With great access to the M4 from the cottage you could even venture further. Head west for more stunning coastline and scenery, or east if you are looking for the hustle and bustle of a city (Swansea, Cardiff, and Bristol). If you plan on ditching the car for the day, you can hop on the train from the station in the village, a direct train to Cardiff is a little over an hour away.

the cottage suffers from damp and one of us had to pull the short straw and sleep in the dampest room. the floor was not very clean and the vacuum cleaner stuffed with the hair of the previous dog. the bath was blocked and so showers were not possible. but the worst thing was the rapidly disappearing track to get to the cottage, which was almost impassible for a normal car in places and this put us off going in and out as much as we would have liked.

Our 4th visit here, such a cosy cottage, especially with the conservatory which we really enjoy relaxing in. I gave location a good rather than excellent as the track leading up to the farm is VERY pot holey at the moment, which the owners had pre-warned us about, but be warned when driving up there!

I had already been to view the cottage earlier when we visited family in Swansea so we were aware of it location and accommodation beforehand. It was ideal as we have a few medium sized dogs and needed something that would coupe with wet dogs if the weather was wet. the conservatory gives you an extra bit of space. the Christmas decorations were really nice. Beds were comfortable and a lovely large bath for the wife to soak in. Good internet connection for those who cant switch off from the world and we experienced good phone signal on the farm. there are lovely walks for the dogs and is in a super location for Swansea or Llanelli although Gowerton has all the amenities you should need. we will 100% be looking to book this property again. Our Microwave broke on New years eve and Richard had it replaced with a new one within a couple of hours. Richard was a great host and very informative with local information and responded to any questions immediately. Big 10 out of 10 from us.
