Follow a picturesque lane to the property and make use of the off-road parking and EV charging point before taking in the attractive surroundings. With a pretty cottage garden, the cottage offers a welcoming introduction from the moment you arrive. Inside, the kitchen/diner provides a sociable hub for your stay, whether you are brewing a morning coffee, heating a light bite in the microwave or preparing an evening meal using the oven, hob, dishwasher and fridge/freezer.

Leading from here is a useful utility area with a washing machine, which continues through to a contemporary bathroom featuring a bath with a shower over. The first sitting room invites relaxation, with an inglenook fireplace, original beams and a view of the garden, with Smart TV, sofa and armchair creating an appealing setting for a laid-back evening indoors. A second sitting room offers another place to unwind, where a woodburning stove and comfortable sofa encourage long conversations and relaxed nights after a day of sightseeing. Upstairs, a carpeted staircase reveals two attractive bedrooms. The twin room is light and airy, complete with a cast-iron feature fireplace and pleasant views overlooking the garden, while the double bedroom provides ample storage and another feature fireplace that enhances its traditional character.

Outside, the lawned garden offers plenty of space to enjoy fine weather, and the patio with outdoor furniture is ideal for alfresco dining or a leisurely morning drink. A pub can be reached on foot, while a shop is just a short drive away. It is also possible to walk to Penrhyn Castle in the village, a fascinating Neo-Norman castle with acres of beautiful gardens and parkland. Owned by the National Trust, the castle forms part of the Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cottage was originally part of the Penrhyn Estate. A little further afield, Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) offers dramatic peaks, scenic trails and beautiful lakes, while Llanberis provides access to Llyn Padarn, the Snowdon Mountain Railway and the National Slate Museum.

There is also easy access to all the Zip World sites in North Wales for those seeking adventure. Many beautiful beaches are within easy reach, including Newborough and Rhosneigr. Another UNESCO World Heritage Site which can be explored easily from the cottage is the set of magnificent castles built by Edward I. Caernarfon invites visitors to discover its impressive castle, waterfront setting and selection of independent shops and eateries, while Beaumaris charms with its historic castle, attractive seafront and sweeping views across the Menai Strait. Boat rides can be taken from the pier, along the Straits and to Puffin Island. In Conwy, walk the medieval walls and explore the imposing castle before enjoying the array of cafes, restaurants and shops, or relaxing on the pretty harbour with a locally made ice cream.

Until recently, the North Wales Coastal Path ran past the door of the cottage, and it is possible to access many beautiful walks and bike rides from the cottage without using the car. Combining character, practical amenities, a quiet setting and an excellent location, Puffin Cottage makes a wonderful base for exploring Gwynedd, Anglesey and the wider North Wales region. Guests wishing to use the EV charger should notify either Menai or the owner in advance.  Guests will be charged after their stay for the energy used.

Bangor is a university town on the North Wales coast with a large range of shops, bars and restaurants. It is the main crossing point for the Isle of Anglesey with two road bridges across the Menai Strait. Across the water, the castle and pier at Beaumaris make a lovely day out, or you can catch a boat to enjoy a trip out to Puffin Island. The Anglesey Coastal Path takes in beautiful scenery, and the island is home to many fine beaches including Rhosneigr, Trearddur Bay and Red Wharf Bay. The NT mansion Plas Newydd is on the island, while on the mainland further NT properties can be found including Penrhyn Castle and Bodnant Gardens. The spectacular mountains and lakes of Snowdonia are just a short drive way, with plenty of castles, beaches and other attractions on offer in this wonderful region. Bangor and the Menai Straits really do offer the best of both worlds!
