About this property

Llanberis 3 miles. This stunning, converted, architect-designed chapel provides superb quality accommodation above Llyn Padarn, north of Llanberis and on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. Surrounded by beautiful countryside on the foothills of Elidir Fawr, and with uninterrupted views of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), Capel Dinorwig has been renovated to a high specification, and opens into a fantastic, social living area on the first floor. This provides very spacious, light and airy, high quality accommodation enjoying stunning views, with a superb vaulted roof with exposed beams and a feature, central column chimney breast with a double-sided woodburner to benefit both the dining area and the spacious sitting room with a welcoming warmth.

The kitchen with breakfast counter is the ideal place for all to gather around whilst a tasty home-cooked meal for the group is prepared. The full-height windows of the open plan living area offer glorious uninterrupted views of Snowdon and the surrounding mountains. The glass balcony of the first floor overlooks the atrium and entrance hall below. All the ground floor and first floor bedrooms offer en-suite facilities and the two mezzanine floor bedrooms benefit from the use of a shared family bathroom and internal balcony overlooking the living space. The property is perfect for large families or groups, with a spacious games room providing a media centre with large screen TV, Bluetooth speakers, Xbox, table football and ¾ size table tennis, as well as a sauna room with shower, hand basin and changing facility.

This building incorporates many green energy features such as underfloor heating, air-source heat pumps, rainwater harvesting facilities and solar panels. The incorporation of extensive insulation with heat-recovery ventilation ensures a cosy environment with modern comfort levels in an historic building. With doorstep walks to unspoilt Welsh countryside, access to Snowdon and its surrounding peaks, the nearby zipwire at Bethesda and with easy access to all the most popular mountain bike trails in Snowdonia, you will need to book early to ensure this impressive property is still available for your group.

Llanberis sits at the foot of Mount Snowdon and is renowned as a base from which walkers, climbers, mountain-bikers and even rail-passengers can explore the wonder of this ancient mountain. Llanberis has grown since Victorian times, in conjunction with one of the two lakes that sandwich it, Llyn Padarn. Llanberis was a slate mining town and quarried slate from the mountain across the lake itself. Now, the redundant slate quarries merge with the surrounding lakes and forests to provide something of interest for all, whatever the weather. The 800-acre Padarn Country Park is the perfect place to explore what the countryside and the local heritage have to offer, including two sites of Special Scientific Interest, a local nature reserve and a wide range of water-sports. If that isn't enough for you, you can always ascend the heights by taking the Snowdon Mountain Railway, see the Ceunant Mawr Waterfall and visit First Hydro's Electric Mountain.

It is very spacious with great amenities. Most importantly - it was clean and well looked after. We were a family of 10 (Ages 6 - 84) and visited between 18th-23rd of December 2025. Caroline was super helpful with any queries and gave us some good itinerary options. The area is stunningly picturesque and close to many other towns and villages.

The kitchen is well-equipped, though another kettle would be useful - especially for breakfasts of 16 people. The open-plan works well, though all the noise carries down to the bedrooms below - so if you light-sleeper & others still walking around - ear plugs might be useful! We liked the space of the extra 'games room', & enjoyed trying the sauna & the laundry room was useful. We had a lot of snow while we were there & were unable to move our cars for couple of days. - we helped clear snow from the lane, realise such level of snow is unusual, but would be good to have a decent snow shovel to help clear snow. The owner (Caroline) made us feel very welcome, she was warm, helpful & friendly & was very communicative - replying to all messages; much appreciated, & helped make it a memorable & enjoyable stay. We hope to visit again. thank you Caroline.

Stunning views from the chapel of Snowdon and surrounding peaks (it didn’t rain so we could see it most days) Excellent facilities and accommodation. The property a kept to a high standard but also has a great family/open feel - great for extended family gatherings. The sauna and games room were well used and the extra things (toiletries etc) were really appreciated. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment (we cooked every night) and crockery. The laundry facilities also great. Caroline was welcoming and very helpful. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone considering Snowdonia.
