Traditionally decorated, but with surprising mod cons throughout, this stunning rural property showcases the best of rural Pembrokeshire in its pastoral feel and its bucolic setting, on the old coast road between Mathry and St Davids. You're mere minutes from Whitesands, the peninsula's most prominent beach.
Ty Ganol is actually two detached buildings - one smaller and one larger - seamlessly joined by a small corridor to create a fantastic family-sized holiday cottage. Traditionally decorated, but with surprising mod cons throughout, this stunning rural property showcases the best of rural Pembrokeshire in its pastoral feel and its bucolic setting, on the old coast road between Mathry and St Davids. You're mere minutes from Whitesands, the peninsula's most prominent beach, and lining your path to the shore are the ancient cairns that have stood over this outcrop of land jutting into the Irish sea for millennia.
3 bedrooms sleeping a maximum of 6 people.
1 king bedroom is on a mezzanine of the annexe area of the house, up wooden steps above a ground floor shower room, separate open living area with sofas, a wood-burning stove, a door out onto an outdoor patio area and a small corridor with doors to the outside that connects this annexe space with the rest of the house via the kitchen.
In the main house, there are 2 upstairs bedrooms, the Twin bedroom suitable for two children or two adults, and 1 king bedroom simply decorated to give precedence to the glorious exposed wooden beams above. Each bedroom has a hairdryer and hot water bottles.
2.5 Bathrooms: Large downstairs family bathroom with bath, separate walk-in shower with rainfall head, toilet, washbasin, mirror, and radiator in the main house. There is an additional WC upstairs sitting neatly at the top of the stairs between the two bedrooms with a marble-topped vanity basin and heated towel rail. 1 downstairs shower room with shower cubicle, toilet, washbasin, heated towel rail, and mirror in the annexe.
The kitchen leads from the annexe and is modern a sleek with white granite-style worktops running along the galley towards the inglenook which hosts an impressive aga dual fuel range cooker, small oven, convection hob, dishwasher, microwave oven combo and washing machine. A 1.5 bowl inset sink and wine cooler sit within this space, and on the other side of the room, a separate fridge and small freezer and a small table and bench chairs to seat 4 allow some breakfast space.
A door leads to the beautiful dining room with a large antique dining table and six chairs, as well as a highchair. This room also has its own modern wood-burning stove and is the perfect space for hearty dinners.
This room leads to the large bathroom with a roll-top bath, WC, washbasin, large drencher shower, and heated towel rail.
Towards the front of the building, the room gives way to the entrance hall, with a door leading outside to the front of the property, and a door leading into the lounge space. The exposed stone wall is a nod to the workmanship of this old cottage, but the modern log burner set into the fireplace gives light and warmth, with luxurious sofas and chairs to lounge on whilst watching some TV after a busy day outdoors.
Back in the entrance hall, the winding staircase leads up to the twin room with two single beds and ample light and exceptional countryside views.
The outdoor space is extensive - the front of the property has a small walled entranceway with native flowers. At the side of the property, accessed from the semi-detached annexe and hallway, is the patio area, perfect for al fresco lunches or morning coffee in the sea air. To the rear of the property is a small sunroom with seating and a small garden, suitable for children and pets.
Please note: there currently isn't a fence enclosing the rear garden (this is due to be installed in June) so please be careful with children and dogs.
