Hidden in the heart of Hay-on-Wye elevated in clearings between trees, on the bank of the River Wye is where you will find our luxury treetop safari tents. Guests can sit on the private deck as the River Wye runs past, taking in the marvellous views of the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons.

The safari tents have been carefully positioned to ensure you are guaranteed plenty of privacy during your stay. The tents combine the rustic, eco-friendly practicalities of a campsite, with super-comfy, stylish furnishings to guarantee you an enjoyable break. The couples 'Cwtch' Safari Tent sleeps two adults, with room enough for one infant in a cot. It has a delightful open plan living space with handmade four poster bed that's straight out of a fairytale. The space also has a small seating area and a fully fitted off-grid kitchen, and a large deck extending out above the River Wye. On a seperate balcony you will find your private fire pit and a further seating area with steps down to a private river beach.

The Family Safari Tent 'Ash' sleeps two to five people with space for one infant in a cot. This tent has two bedrooms; one double bedroom and one bedroom with a double and single above. It has an en-suite bathroom, kitchen, and a large deck with outside eating spaces. Meadow also has a firepit with a secure woodland area for spending time outside.

The campsite itself is cosy, comfortable and environmentally friendly. Entirely off-grid, the site makes use of Solar Energy and generators and is designed to minimise its impact on the environment in the surrounding woodland, with some areas having been left untouched. This means you may be lucky enough to see some lovely wildlife during your stay, as an array of critters come passing by.

Hello from our small family glamping business By the Wye, on the Wales/Herefordshire border. We are a family of adventurers and between us have visited over 30 countries, with many more on the bucket list. Dawn and Steve (aka nanny and grampy) have run The Start B&B business, successfully, in Hay on Wye for 19 years, taking 2 out to cycle & camp Europe. When the opportunity came to buy woodland adjacent to their property they jumped at the chance. It has always been a dream to build a treehouse and go live in the woods. While they are still searching for the perfect tree, they now have a family glamping business to share the love of all things green.

Their son Dan is an arborist and in 2011 was lucky enough to meet his future wife Edith. They back-packed the world together before getting married in 2016. They now have three children, (aka the trouble-makers. Dan is in charge of check-in and has a wealth of knowledge of things to do in the local area and Edith is in charge of online communications with guests.

The campsite is a short hop from the amazing town of Hay on Wye. Located on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Hay on Wye well known as The Town of Books, and hosts the annual Hay Literary Festival. However, you also have a number of lovely, charming cafes, pubs, and shops on offer, so be sure to go for a wander around the town.

Lovers of the great outdoors are also spoiled for choice when it comes to walking routes, with two national trails, the Offa’s Dyke path and the Wye Valley trail, passing right through the town. You have the protected countryside of the Brecon Beacons National Park on your doorstep too, so make sure you pack your hiking boots. There is also a place to hire canoes a five minute walk away.
