Cwmberwyn is a charming, rustic cottage set in a stunningly peaceful and remote location, perfect for those seeking a tranquil escape surrounded by nature and beautiful countryside. Guests consistently praise the magical atmosphere, cosy interiors, and abundance of character, with many enjoying the presence of sheep and scenic walks nearby. While some mention that the property could benefit from a deeper clean and minor maintenance, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return for another relaxing stay.
Cleanliness is mixed, with several guests noting areas needing a deeper clean, such as cobwebs, dust, and occasional leftover food or dirty items. However, others found the cottage acceptably clean and felt that minor imperfections added to its rustic charm.
The location is widely praised for its tranquillity, remoteness, and beautiful scenery. Guests love the peaceful setting, proximity to nature, and abundance of walking routes, though some note that access can be tricky, especially in poor weather or with low vehicles.
Most guests found the cottage cosy, welcoming, and comfortable, with warm interiors and comfortable beds. Occasional issues with heating or duvets were mentioned, but these did not detract significantly from the overall comfort.
Facilities are generally adequate, with a well-equipped kitchen and a popular wood burner. Some guests experienced issues with the shower, TV, water supply, and minor maintenance, but these were usually manageable and did not overshadow the overall experience.
Several guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as a welcome cake and a warm atmosphere. However, as gifts and extras are not guaranteed for every stay, future guests should not expect them as standard.

Beautiful property and location. Unfortunately everything in the home is tired looking and dated. Not very clean at all. The sofas both smell of dog and ***. A very bad smell in the kitchen near the fridge, like something had died and on the last night a strange smell like bad cheese when going up the stairs. Shower doesn’t work. However, there is a jug on the bath to rinse off. Kind to supply a pint of milk, but the seal was off, so we didn’t use it. No other items of a welcome pack, as suggested. Did not see any warning the gardeners were coming on Thursday. Luckily we managed to get the dogs in. The garden is not fully enclosed. Garden furniture is very old and fragile. Don’t think anything is getting replaced at this point

Here’s a polished review you could post:We had a lovely stay at this cottage and found it to be a wonderful place to relax. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, with stunning views all around. The cottage was clean and full of character. There were a few dusty areas here and there, but nothing that affected our stay – if anything, it added to the charm and authentic old-world feel of the property. The sheep were fantastic to see, and we especially loved watching the lambs with their mums around the farm. It really added to the experience. There isn’t a fenced-off area where dogs can run completely free, which may be something for some guests to consider. Fortunately, our dogs are well-trained and were happy exploring while being supervised. The only issue we encountered was the driveway. We have a Ford Grand C-Max, and it scraped underneath in a couple of places due to some of the larger bumps. We found a route partly on the grass which helped avoid this, but it’s worth noting that vehicles lower than ours may need to take extra care.Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would like to thank the hosts for having us. We had a great time and would happily visit again.

A lovely cottage in beautiful countryside; a perfect escape from the busy world. Not for those looking for a '5 star experience' but comfortable and homely. Shower could be better.
