Meifod itself offers a friendly, small-village atmosphere with a local pub and shop within walking distance, and is surrounded by wooded hills, riverbanks, and farmland, making it a haven for walkers and nature lovers.
Just a short drive away, Welshpool (6 miles) offers a great mix of shops, pubs, and restaurants, alongside attractions such as the charming Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway and the grand Powis Castle and Gardens, known for its impressive terraces and world-class formal gardens. Montgomery and Llanfyllin, two other historic market towns, are also close by and well worth a visit for their character, independent shops, and cafés.
For lovers of the outdoors, the Shropshire Hills and Snowdonia National Park are both within reach for hiking, cycling, or simply taking in the incredible scenery. We returned back when we previously stayed at the Oakwood lodge and we had a great time again and Ed and his family is the best host you can have and from all of our experience, they have tried to give us our best they can and when we needed their help they quickly responded and helped. The house is clean, and new and perfect for a nice holiday simply at 100%. We will come again of course as we can't simply get enough of the good time.

We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge. The location was perfect and the sheep /lambs in the field kept us entertained. The hot tub was a perfect way to relax at the end of the day. The location is remote, peaceful and exactly what we were looking for.
