Oakwood Lodge is located within a mile of the peaceful village of Meifod, a picturesque rural community nestled in the scenic Vyrnwy Valley, and it’s a welcoming retreat, purpose-built with holiday comfort in mind. Suspended on stilts, the terrace gives spectacular views across the lake and surrounding countryside and comes complete with a bubbling hot tub to enjoy after a day’s exploring.

The setting couldn’t be better for enjoying both peace and adventure. Right outside the door, you’ll find rolling fields with sheep and cows, perfect for morning walks or evenings spent peacefully watching the sun go down. Meifod itself offers a friendly, small-village atmosphere with a local pub and shop within walking distance, and is surrounded by wooded hills, riverbanks, and farmland, making it a haven for walkers and nature lovers.
Just a short drive away, Welshpool (6 miles) offers a great mix of shops, pubs, and restaurants, alongside attractions such as the charming Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway and the grand Powis Castle and Gardens, known for its impressive terraces and world-class formal gardens. Montgomery and Llanfyllin, two other historic market towns, are also close by and well worth a visit for their character, independent shops, and cafés.
For lovers of the outdoors, the Shropshire Hills and Snowdonia National Park are both within reach for hiking, cycling, or simply taking in the incredible scenery. The Mid Wales coast is also just over an hour’s drive (42 miles), with sandy beaches, seaside villages, and harbour towns to discover at your own pace. An absolutely beautiful lodge which takes full advantage of the gorgeous views. The lodge has everything you need for a perfect time away with a high quality finish. The fire was just wonderful on an evening after being in the hot tub. The lodges are an absolute credit to the owners and I can only imagine them being even better as they settle in to the new setting. We absolutely loved sitting and watching the lambs in the fields and cooling our feet off in the lake. We would absolutely recommend them for a stay!

An absolute gem of a place to stay, thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our visit. The accommodation is clean, spacious, warm and extremely well equipped. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need, plenty of wood for the fire, games to enjoy, the bathroom is amazing, bed is so comfortable. The dishwasher and washing machine were helpful, and the hot tub (and view from it) was delightful. The location is perfection if you're looking for somewhere to really switch off. Literally in the middle of nowhere with nothing but sheep and birds as far as the eye can see, yet only a few minutes drive from a supermarket. We were lucky to have a couple of clear nights and spent hours watching the night sky. There was a folder packed with useful information for the local area. We just wish we have booked for a few extra nights!
