We looked at a few cottages in Aberdovey as a last mintue mothers day trip and decided on Ty Cornel. I'm so glad we did! The house is comfortable and well equipped with families in mind, and the beach is a 3 minute walk away. We slept well and the cottage was cleaned to a very good standard. My wife was particularly happy about the fat face store a mere 20 meters from the front door. Great Indian from the Bay at Bengal and a fantastic meal at Seabreeze. I highly recommend those both too! Overall we had a truly great time at Ty Cornel and look forward to our next visit.

The utility room is a real bonus. The stairs are very steep and may cause problems for people with mobility issues. The house was not as clean as I would have hoped, with dust on surfaces and cobwebs on the utensils in the jug on the kitchen counter! Apart from the vacuum cleaner there were no cleaning materials provided. The mattresses are poor quality and uncomfortable.

It's in an ideal location too. However there were some things that we felt we needed to share with you. When we arrived we had 4 towels only for the week. We had booked in for 5 people. The towel used for the bathroom floor as a bathmat, which was over the side of the bath was covered with mildew and mould. We found we could not use the downstairs TV as there was no signal. The microwave was very bad. It's rusty inside and condensation fills up in the door glass. The cottage had been cleaned but not great. The sofas had stains over them both in the kitchen and the lounge. The smallest bedroom with bunk beds had no way of opening the window as it was sealed shut when painted and we had arrived on a very hot day. One of the kitchen cupboards had got a small bottle of tequila in it and sachets of vinegar and salt which had split and leaked and this had been there for some time as it had dryed which makes us think the cleaners were not really doing a great job. BUT WE WANT TO POINT OUT : On the first day we contacted Alan who was fantastic. He arranged for someone to come out and fix the window. He propped it open with a wooden block which worked well. He arranged for someone to come out and fix the TV. He even went as far as buying off Amazon an Iron for us (which was totally our fault for not reading the information on the cottage properly as we presumed as there was a laundry room there would be an iron and ironing board) . We never told Alan about the microwave, dirty cupboards etc as we really did not want to be a pain to him and be the annoying customers (our feelings Alan never made us feel that way he's lovely) but I did mention the towel situation and the mouldy bathmat and that day he came over and gave us a nice pile of bathtowels. I will say the cottage has real character and we are looking to buy a property in the area but the stairs were a bit much for my old knees and the very first step coming down off the top floor is tilted slightly and for me a bit scary. My teenage son actually fell twice, he's fine, it's seems teenagers bounce well :) Regardless of the negative points there was so many positive ones and we had one of best holidays in Wales yet. Thanks Alan
