Penlan is a charming, cosy cottage in a stunning location, perfect for exploring Beddgelert and Snowdonia. Guests consistently praise its cleanliness, beautiful views, peaceful setting, and enclosed garden ideal for dogs. The cottage’s nostalgic Rupert Bear touches add unique character. While some mention minor maintenance issues and the lack of WiFi, most appreciate the opportunity to disconnect and enjoy nature. The property is well-equipped for a comfortable stay, with easy access to local walks, shops, and eateries. Overall, Penlan offers a delightful retreat for those seeking tranquillity and natural beauty.
Cleanliness is frequently highlighted, with many guests describing the cottage as spotless, immaculately clean, and tidy on arrival. Only rare minor comments were made about towels or a rug, but these did not detract from the overall high standard.
The location receives near-universal praise for its proximity to the village, breathtaking views, and access to walks and local amenities. Guests love the peaceful setting and the convenience of being close to both mountains and the village centre.
Most guests find the cottage cosy and comfortable, with special mention of the beds and warmth. A few note issues with the double bed mattress, chilly kitchen/bathroom, or creaky bunk, but these are outweighed by positive comments about restful sleep and a homely atmosphere.
Facilities are generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and essentials provided. Some guests mention the need for minor updates, such as improved heating, more outdoor seating, or additional kitchen items. Occasional maintenance issues (e.g., blown windows, skylight leak) are noted but do not dominate the feedback.
A few guests mention the absence of a welcome gift, while others appreciate small touches like spare essentials and Rupert Bear memorabilia. Please note that gifts are not guaranteed and may not be provided during every stay.
Beddgelert 0.3 miles.
A charming, detached Beddgelert cottage, set in quiet woodland in an elevated position above the picturesque village of Beddgelert in the Snowdonia National Park. This Beddgelert cottage is affectionately known as Rupert Bear's Cottage in memory of the author and illustrator of the Rupert Bear stories, who lived there from 1956 to 1986. He gained his inspiration from the local countryside and wrote the Rupert Bear stories from here for many years. This secluded Beddgelert cottage has two bedrooms, a sitting/dining room, and a well-equipped kitchen area, both with exposed wooden beams. The gardens and woodland surrounding this Beddgelert holiday home provide peace and tranquillity, yet the cottage is only a 5-minute stroll into the centre of Beddgelert. There are miles of walking tracks around, some starting from outside the door of this Beddgelert cottage. Further afield are the beaches of Porthmadog, Italianate Portmeirion, castles at Caernarfon, Conwy and Harlech and the coastline of the Llyn Peninsula. A fantastic Beddgelert cottage, in a great location at any time of the year.
Lying at the foot of Mount Snowdon, Beddgelert is situated in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. The bungalow was immaculately clean and tidy (as usual!) on our arrival. Very many thanks.

The only improvement would be to provide some outdoor chairs. Luckily we brought our own so it didnât really affect our stay.
Wendy
Blown windows at front so couldn't see view, garden overgrown and no comfortable outdoor seating, only about 6 TV channels and NO WiFi, some old furniture and tired decor.
