What our customers say about their holidays

We had a wonderful few days staying at this lovely cottage just before Christmas to celebrate our ruby wedding anniversary.
We had been keen to escape from the stress of Christmas and recharge our batteries and the appeal of a little fishermanâs cottage near the sea was hard to resist. The weather as predicted was awful but the cottage was so welcoming and warm with its log burning wood stove, lovely furnishings and decor. The bedrooms comfortably furnished with seaside themes and the beds so comfortable. There was a lovely welcome pack on arrival and the kitchen is well equipped with everything you could need. The upstairs main bedroom and shower room has a very low sloping ceiling which it takes a bit of getting used to and I did manage to bang my head on it once so something to be aware of but you only make that mistake once and just something to be aware of. Being a thick walled cottage, we never heard any loud traffic even though we were not far from the town centre. There are also so many decent shops nearby for supplies, eg. Places to eat, coffee shops, gift shop, bakers, fishmonger, co op, hotel, fish and chip shop etc all less than 5 minute walk away and a lovely harbour and beach 15 mins walk away. The cottage can comfortably accommodate a family of 4 or 2 couples or even just one couple like us looking for some peace and quiet. We loved our stay here and would definitely like to return again in the summer. Thank you so much for helping us celebrate our special anniversary and take home some lovely memories to treasure.

This is basic bare minimum.
Toilet door has not been hung properly and jams. Bath seal not done properly. Would remove most of damp smell from this end area. Shower screen useless. Bare minimum of cutlery and towels. No mattress covers and poor quality bedding. Mattresses atrocious. No storage in 2 bedrooms. No facilities in garden for drying. Kitchen cupboard sliding door needs hung properly. Good wi fi. General area is very run down. Macduff has become a dump and not what i remember. Strange place for a holiday let. We won't be back. Parking sometimes difficult. Not a safe area at night and noisy neighbours. The rest of the coastal villages seem not to have got as run down. Aberdeenshire is still a place we will visit but Macduff will not be on our list.

A big thank you - perfect accommodation - perfect stay.
The listing describes everything well and the extra touches left for us made it extra special. The cottage is welcoming, warm, comfortable and well equipped. We would happily recommend the cottage to stay in and will be back to stay again for sure. We were up to visit family in Portsoy so was so convenient to see them and explore the local area. We knew Portsoy well already and are always happy to be there. We saw in New Year with the village fireworks display which was great. The cottage is brilliant as a base to explore such a beautiful coastline. Thanks again!!

Very clean and comfortable.
The double bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was good and well stocked with dishes etc and equipment. Good shower upstairs and nice bathroom downstairs. Should mention that upstairs has coomed ceilings which would be difficult for a tall person. The house is on a small lane but near the busy main road which can be noisy at night - not to mention the seagulls!! The owner was helpful and friendly. Portsoy is a lovely small town on the Moray Firth coast which has many coastal walks. Aspire is a good place to eat but booking is recommended and check opening times.

A lovely little cottage and perfectly located!
Everything is just a few minutes walk away, bar, bakery, ice cream shop and the best chippy weâve ever had, Hook, Line & Sinker! The harbour is great and we were lucky enough to visit at the weekend when the Folk Festival was on. The cottage is cosy and well stocked with everything you need. The only slight negative is the sloping ceiling in the bedroom which takes a while to adjust to. We had a few bumps and knocks until we remembered to duck! All in all I would recommend a stay in the cottage and the very picturesque Portsoy.
