What our customers say about their holidays
Hannah - Verified booking
Arriving on Friday evening we were able to park right outside and easily get into the properly.
On entry to the hallway of the building, we were taken back by how well the old building has been restored. After making our way upstairs we were very pleased to see that all our needs were catered for. A delightful hallway for us to take off our boots and hang our jackets, before entering into the double height living space with original features (even the old dock) lovingly restored and modernised all of which are tastefully done. The kitchen is very well-equipped, if eating in you have absolutely everything you need. Once we have had gathered our bags, we explored the bedrooms, which I must say are a delight. Very luxurious and both with high spec ensuite facilities. The bed was very grand and comfortable with quality linens. Everything was very in keeping with the restoration of the old building but there are tasteful modern touches everywhere. From TVâs in living and sleeping areas to USB sockets for phone charging. Once we were settled we made the 2-minute walk into the centre of the village and had a couple of drinks, returning to eat at the lovely dining table. On the Saturday we walked out to the falls which is a quick jaunt down through the village before heading up on a very scenic walking route which bring you back down into the village enjoy one of the several pubs and good food establishments. Although we were rained on, we found getting back to the court house nice and easy as the hallway of both the main building and the hallway to the accommodation has matts and boot storage making it an easy and comfortable place to get back to. The building itself is stunning, inside and out. The scale of the place is magnificent. With the building being so solid there was no noise heard from the other spaces. We really got the feeling of complete comfort and privacy. It was great value for money given both the location and quality of the accommodation . 5+ stars. We will be booking another stay.

âWhat a Viewâ is a wonderful apartment in a perfect location with fabulous view.
It was âdressedâ for Christmas, which was tastefully done without being overboard. The apartment was bright and clean and as always very well equipped. A great addition was WiFi and a TV in the bedroom. The only issue were the grubby cups & glasses and a used wet bath towel we found hung on the back of the bathroom door. Things that shouldnât really have been missed by the cleaners and let the ownerâs property down. Getting in through the building entrance door was tricky as the key was old and the bolt was a poor fit in the lock, however we managed it. Unfortunately, the following evening upon leaving the building and locking the door as required, our key broke in the lock, effectively locking us (and anyone else who had already left) out of the building. We immediately contacted Sykes Cottages and explained our predicament. I have nothing but praise about how we were treated. Staff were empathetic and efficient in trying to resolve the problem; contacting the owner and even looking into booking us a hotel for the night. They kept in contact, checking in on our well-being and progress. With such excellent customer service, we will continue to use Sykes. In the end after managing to gain entry, we took the lock off the door; a locksmith arrived the next morning, refit the old lock and provided us with his spare key for the building and we continued with our holiday.

We love staying in this apartment.
It is bright, welcoming and clean. We have stayed many times because it is cosy, central and has great views. It is very well maintained by the owner and has everything you would need for a holiday. They should be proud. One small criticism would be a bigger/comfy sofa. Maybe weâre getting older but we really felt it this year. The main issue is, with whoever is tasked to clean it. They let down the property by not being thorough, during change over. Guests are asked to wash and tidy everything away before leaving. However, as was with the past couple of years the dishes, glasses and pans in the cupboards are not checked for cleanliness. The glasses were greasy, on some of the plates, there was dried on food and also burnt on food in some pans. We therefore, had to wash them all before use. The extractor fan was also covered in grease and as much as we wanted to clean it; we didnât want to risk standing on the furniture. The area between the cooker and work top was filled with crumbs and seeds and had not been brushed or cleaned out. We also found a dirty bath towel in the bathroom. This is unacceptable, as in the past weâve found dirty clothes left from previous occupiers in the bathroom. As we stated previously, we love this apartment and hope these issues are addressed, so we can continue to return.

Just got back from a 1 week's stay in Whitby, (wish we'd booked two!
) The "what a view quayside apartment" in Whitby was perfect, it has everything you need for a relaxing stay in Whitby. It's in the perfect location to enjoy the sights and sounds of Whitby, we loved the mornings waking up to the sounds and sights of Whitby: fishing boats getting ready, tourist boats setting up, the swing bridge opening / closing etc. The breakfast / dinner table is perfectly placed to sit back and watch the world go by, we didn't drive anywhere as everything you need is in Whitby: shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars, the abbey, museums etc. If you do wish to venture outside of Whitby there are plenty of buses and trains within walking distance at the bus/train station just the other side of the swing bridge, the coastal hopper buses can take you exploring around the other coastal towns and villages. (Staithes, Robin hood's bay, Scarborough, etc..) We will be back again in the near future and we recommend this apartment for anyone wishing to stay in Whitby 100%.

We have stayed in this apartment twice before, which shows how much we like it.
As the name of the apartment suggests there is a splendid view of the harbour. The apartment is well equipped and comfortable for two people. It is near all the main attractions of Whitby. The wifi is fast. The network name and password for the wifi is on the router, which you will obviously need to input to your device. The router is in the bedroom on a shelf opposite the bed- we did not notice it at first. The tv gives a very good picture quality. The biggest negative is the parking. There is a public car park across the road, but it is nearly always full. On a couple of occasions we had to part in the large car park across the river, a 10 to 15 minute walk. Parking costs £9 for 24 hours, although you can by a ticket for your whole stay, at £8 a day from the Tourist Office across the harbour, which saves having to use the payment machine every time you park. It covers all the Scarborough Borough car parks. There is limited provision for clothes (chest and hangers).
