What our customers say about their holidays

Just an outstanding property.
Langdale barn is beautifully furnished and in a gorgeous village with a lovely enclosed garden, ideal for our dog. The footpath leading from the garden to the beautiful lakeside walk was a huge bonus. We loved the comfy sofas, the supremely comfortable bed, the fantastic shower and everything else in between. All the little extras provided by the wonderful hosts, Mike and Julie, were very much appreciated. From the delicious cream tea on arrival, to the bath robes and toiletries. We had a wonderful walking holiday, so much beautiful countryside to explore in the area. We ate at the fantastic New Inn, a few minutes walk, 6 nights out of the 7. A massive plus to have this gorgeous pub on the doorstep! Mike very kindly refilled the number of bird feeders in the garden part way through the week, the variety of garden birds we saw was amazing. We could have sat for hours just watching them! Also loved the wildlife cameras - another lovely touch. We loved it so much we booked for next year before leaving and canât wait to go back.

Really lovely stay - warmly welcomed by the host who went above and beyond to share the wildlife with us and responded quickly when we couldnât find something in the house.
Absolutely fabulous natural light with those gorgeous windows, loved sitting and feeling part of it all! The shower was the best of my LIFE; the kitchen was well-equipped for preparing food (including Tupperware for picnics!); and we loved the big table for craft activities, pile of blankets for snuggling, decent speaker for music, massive telly for film nights, comfy beds, matching robes, a fire to warm ourselves by with a good supply of wood and the well-stocked birdfeeders which brought in a wonderful show of birds! (Listening to owls in bed at night was a treat and then seeing footage of one in the bird box the next morning was a highlight!) Well-located for trips to nearby places and reachable by good roads (only got narrow as we entered the village, which was not busy at all in November) and a dedicated parking space was much appreciated. As a mother and daughter going for a week away together it was perfection. Huge thanks to our wonderful hosts!

Fantastic experience.
Great communication before, during and after our stay from the owners. The Only disappointment was that we didnât get to stay longer. This beautiful Property is set on a small holding in a really peaceful village, the only humm is that off the odd tractor working the fields or that of the of wildlife that surrounds us. If itâs peace and quiet you want then this is the place. We stayed as a family of 4, with a 6 year old and 5 year old, they had access to a lovely garden to play in, and with the property all being on one floor we felt they was alway comfortable and safe. They especially liked visiting the animals that where accessible from the property. Both the owners are really accessible, friendly and helpful we felt very welcome there. Thank you. I hope we can get booked in again soon.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Langdale Barn.
The windows across the back open up the garden which is always full of beautiful birds visiting the feeders, the view across the distant fields and hills is lovely. The cottage is warm, bright, and very comfortable, kitchen and bathroom are modern and superbly kitted out, beds and furniture all excellent. The hosts are welcoming, helpful, informative and respectful of your privacy. We were lucky enough to visit during lambing and delighted to be able to spend time with the new-born lambs. We were also able to monitor on camera the progress of two owlets nesting in a nearby tree. The private lake and fields are a real bonus and great for a peaceful morning or evening walk. Sampford Courtenay is a tranquil oasis and an absolute pleasure to visit. Hope to return in the near future.

Langdale Barn was very well equiped and imaculately decorated.
Perfectly located in mid devon for accessing the north or south, Torquay and Clovelly were both only an hour's drive. We tried several local restaurants, from the excellent New Inn (twice) a short walk away in the village to the Countryman for a Sunday roast and the Bearslake Inn for character and great food. A small problem with the shower was dealt with immediately, contact numbers were provided so any issues could be addressed quickly. Relaxing in the cottage or walking down to the lake was lovely, unfortuantely the poor weather meant it was too cold or wet for breakfast on the patio, but the view of the garden and hills through the full height windows made up for it. We have stayed at several cottages in Devon over 18 years, and this was top of the list.
