  Our stay in Southwold. We've always loved Southwold but some of the holiday lets don't allow dogs and some are very over priced. We've stayed once before in a rental and also in the two hotels. These stays were good but compared to our stay at Bovis Cottage they just don't compare in any way. So we arrived for a 10 day stay. We couldn't have been better pleased. The first 2 days our grown up sons, aged 20 and 23 were with us as well. So 4 adults and 2 dogs in the cottage at night! There was bags of room it was great. The cottage itself is very good. The location even better. You are situated at the start of the High Street. so all of what is going on is at your door step. We could walk down the High Street and shops, go to the pier and the sea front. Or we could turn left and go across the common for a nice walk. Or turn right and make our way down to the harbour for fresh sea food, fish and more. We had a great time at a cottage that couldn't be better placed for a great break. I would recommend for a family as well as its a great big garden front and back.

  Bearing in mind you have cleaners going in once the property is vacated, we were disappointed to find a large cobweb underneath one of the kitchen cupboards and a large dust ball hanging from the underneath of the landing radiator.

  Generally speaking, the property was of an acceptable clean standard. With regards to the appliances in the kitchen, all worked properly, however, in our opinion the dishwasher was too small given that four people can stay in the cottage. With regards to the main bathroom, our only comment is the glass shelf above the wash basin is positioned in an almost dangerous position when one wants to bend to rinse their mouth for example - one has to actually duck your head underneath the shelf to access the basin properly. Bed was very comfortable, but alas, the sofa was on the hard side and not particularly comfortable to sit on. The welcome pack does need to be updated to include the correct information regarding the recycling bottle bank location and also the fact the recycling bins are only collected on a fortnightly basis rotating with the general waste bin. Regarding the above, we did enjoy our time at Poppy Cottage, neighbours were lovely and welcoming - location was great. We look forward to returning.

  This is the second time we have stayed at Teepee.

  Lovely cottage so well furnished and clean, welcome pack fab. We did experience issues this year with the key safe , took 5 of us half an hour to get the key then we couldn’t get it to open again! We use key safes on our rental properties so are familiar with how they work! The front door also stuck and I had to get my children to open the lounge window and I climbed through it! I went to Suffolk secrets on Monday and the maintenance rang me said they would speak to the owner and look into it then nothing! I rang 4 times but no call back. I then got an email asking feedback on resolving the issue! I said they hadn’t and someone rang me saying maintenance on way around this was thurs eve and we checked out Fri am….the key was a hassle as 5 adults not always together meant massive inconvenience. Expected a better service or at least feedback to be honest

  Overall, a good base to stay in Southwold.

  Great space, clean and tidy with everything we needed in the property. Unfortunately, the WC in the master suite took about 30 minutes to refill so that was a nuisance. The air con in the games room wouldn't run and we couldn't get it to work, so we didn't use that space. The bin situation is UNBELIEVABLY TERRIBLE for a holiday let catering for so many people and almost Third World-ish. On arrival, there was no black bin and the blue and green regular bins and double commercial style bin outside, were absolutely rammed to the top with every kind of waste, so we resorted to taking our rubbish into town. There were/are 2 foot high weeds outside the house on the pavement, which could surely have been removed by the Landlord rather than hoping the Council will do it!

  The property was perfect for us - incredibly clean and had everything we needed.

  Huge, soft towels and very comfortable beds! Location was brilliant- just a short walk to everything. The only downside was the church bells (church is just a few doors down) that rang every hour throughout the night, every night!! On the Friday we discovered they did bell ringing practice and so they rang (very loudly) for about 2 hours solid, from 7pm to 9pm. Although they sounded lovely, this was really not ideal when trying to get two little ones to sleep. The property is absolutely wonderful and would definitely recommend- just be prepared that the windows are thin and it can be quite noisy at times. Saying that, we’d love to return in the future!
