What our customers say about their holidays
Sally - Verified booking
I thought the location of the property was great .
I liked the look and style and found the bed to be very comfortable. I was disappointed when I turned up at the cottage and saw the front courtyard was not dog friendly as it was not enclosed and there was no back garden to let them out safely . I think if a property is described as dog friendly it should be just that not âdogs tolerated â which is what I felt Bobble cottage was. The rules about the dogs not being allowed upstairs or on furniture was a bit much . Then there should be a stair gate to stop them going up there then . I think the property could do with a make over as it was a little tired. The oven needs replacing ( I had to call the office so they could send the maintenance man out twice ). On my first night of arrival I was hungry and looked forward to cooking my dinner and when I realised the oven wasnât working I was again disappointed. The residential neighbours asked me to park further back from the steps . Iâd remembered the first time but had forgotten . We got chatting and they were clearly unhappy with the cottage being holiday let . The parking was a problem as it IS too narrow for most cars. I wasnât able to open either of my doors to unload one time when I parked there. I had two small dogs with me and it was very annoying. I think if the things Iâve mentioned were addressed it would be more worth the money it costs to stay there . As it stands itâs not. I stay in a lot of air b & bs etc and this one was not up to scratch Iâm afraid .

We enjoyed our week at Newbury Cottage, it was situated right on the High Street so all the amenities of Bourton On The Water were a couple of minutes away.
Bourton On The Water is also handy for getting to other attractions of the Cotswolds, and although we drove to other places we were told there is a good bus service to places like Cheltenham for those who prefer not to use the car all the time. Regarding the cottage itself, the kitchen was very well equipped, and the kitchen was clean. There was bread in the freezer with instructions to replace if used, which I thought was a good idea. The furnishings in the cottage were a bit tired looking, dust was in all the wardrobes and also on the living room table. Also driving through the gap to get to our parking space was extremely nerve racking, and you could see where some cars hadn't quite made it, and scraped the walls!! Can I recommend that advice is given to drive in from the village end, as that proved to be the easier option. We were also a bit disappointed that our area of garden was not fenced in, and it would have been difficult to have the gate to the shared garden closed, which meant that our dog Ziggy had to be walked around the garden on the lead first thing in the morning and last thing at night, and could not run around the garden as he is used to at home. Overall the cottage served it's purpose and we were comfortable there, and Bourton On The Water, with it's pubs, tea rooms and restaurants, as a location, cannot be faulted.

Bobble Cottage provided a great base for our first visit to the Cotswolds, it may be small but it is perfectly formed.
It was spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower was good & there was all that you could need in the kitchen utensils wise. The milk, cookies & ice in the freezer on our arrival were a nice touch & it was handy being able to access Netflix on the TV. We enjoyed some glorious weather during our week & enjoyed sitting out in front of the cottage to soak up some late afternoon sun. The location is super central for Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow On The Wold & all of the must see places in the Cotswolds. One thing worth highlighting with this property to help anyone booking in future is the allocated parking space, it is very narrow. We have a Ford Focus & it completely filled the space, my husband had to do some serious gymnastics to get out of the car once parked up between the other vehicles in the courtyard. You wouldnât get a bigger vehicle in to the space- I know there is a mention of alternative parking outside the village hall but there were vehicles already parked there so not a feasible alternative. Also the cottage would benefit from a proper wheelie bin like the other properties in Bobble Court have- the small black bin by the front door was already 3/4 full when we arrived for our weeks break which left little room for our rubbish.

The cottage is very nice.
The house was very clean and the equipment is quite complete. Nevertheless we believe we have a few recommendations to make it even better: ⢠It was not clear to us how to switch on the oven. We had to contact the office. We received a quick reply, but still then it took us some time to find out how to set the timer: you have to push two buttons at the same time, not very logic. ⢠It took us quite some time to find out how the shower works. In the end we found a switch in the sleeping room. Why not placing signs under each wall switch, also in the kitchen? ⢠The heating in the living room does not work. The small oscillating heater did work well. ⢠Parking lots are extremely narrow. Every day we had to deal with neighbours who had the same problem. ⢠In the kitchen a small knife to cut tomatoes, onions, etc. is missing. ⢠Concerning the toilet: the handle of the cistern does not work properly. You have to push it quite often before the toilet flushes. ⢠Our final suggestion would be to include in the manual more and precise instructions how everything works. This would especially be convenient for foreign guests.

The property is lovely!
The bed and sofa are super comfy which was great. The property was clean on the surface but it did need a deeper clean, for example dust and fluff under the furniture and on plug sockets. We also washed all of the cutlery, plates, cups etc because there were crumbs in the cutlery drawer and on some of the knives. Due to the covid rules it was required to strip the bed, once I'd done so I saw many stains on the duvet itself! Considering the fact we are in the middle of a pandemic I think the property should be deep cleaned and old duvets etc replaced. It would also be useful to have some more cupboard space in the kitchen for our own food etc, I had move loads of stuff around just to get one shelf for our things! The location of the property is perfect, very close to all the beautiful little towns including bourton on the water and stow on the wold. It is also close to a lovely national trust walk and a zoo where we could take our dog!
