What our customers say about their holidays
Mr Melia - Verified booking
The cottage was everything the website and other reviews stated. It was fantastic for a 50th birthday with friends and family. It is ideal for large groups using all three properties but would be a bit awkward using shared facilities like the games room and enclosed courtyard if the three cottages were booked separately. The properties themselves were finished to a high standard, the beds were excellent, the bathrooms excellent and living areas very comfortable. The log burners were also great with plenty wood. The village itself is a short walk and has everything you could really need including a Chinease takeaway and pizza shop. One thing to note, there are two pubs but only The Blacksmiths arms is dog friendly indoors, The Golden Lion is not which was a shame as we had booked this for food on the Friday and had to change it to The Hotham Arms a short drive away. There is a easy walk just behind the cottage which is an old railway line. All in all the weekend was exactly what we hoped it would be and I would certainly recommend the cottages to other groups. The owners were friendly the two times I spoke with them in passing.

This is a lovely, comfortable, clean and high spec holiday home.
We were a party of 2 adults and 2 teens and there's plenty of space. The outdoor space was perfect for a coffee in the autumn sunshine and will be a fab spot for a summer BBQ. We enjoyed doing some stargazing in the evening, both indoor, through the amazing lantern roof and outdoor on the patio. We arrived to find a generous welcome pack with breakfast provisions and the kitchen is well equipped. We enjoyed pizzas from the pub next door which were great value and very tasty. It's a great base for exploring the East Coast and there are some interesting historical villages to visit nearby too, as well as the Rudston monolith. My only suggestions would be to review the seating layout to make it easier for 4/5 people to sit comfortably together on sofas to chat, watch TV, play a board game etc. and to provide a general cleaning spray and cloth to enable guests to wipe down the kitchen surfaces and dining table. A great stay and the owner is helpful and friendly.

This is an ideal venue for an extended family/ friends as the different 'houses' easily allow for individual groups to have their own space whilst also having room to enjoy being together. We particularly enjoyed the courtyard as we had great weather. The pool table was a great hit with all ages (8 - 70). The cottages have been decorated in lovely colours, and all the soft furnishings of high quality, as are the beds and bed linen. We appreciated having plenty of good tea towels, and hand towels in each bathroom (as well as bath and hand towel for each guest). It was lovely to find wine and other goodies and treats for us on arrival. As we had all three properties we were able to share fridge and freezer space but would have struggled if we only had one property, particularly with freezer space. Also, had we not had all three properties, we would have hesitated to use the courtyard and games room as much as we did.

Meadow view is basic modern 2 bedroom barn conversion , with more than enough space for a couple or small family and reasonably well equiped.
The location is peaceful but with frequent farm traffic - and the tiny hamlet of Tunstall has no amenities - so you'll need to go to the next village of Roos to find a village shop or pub - about 2 miles away. I think any prospective visitors should also be made aware of the significant coastal erosion the immediate area has suffered in recent years - so although it's situated very close to the sea - access to the beach is very limited and we only found one route via a steep rough cliffside path at the end of the footpath which leads on from Rectory Lane. However it's a lovely long empty beach so it's well worth the effort once you do finally find it. The nearby seaside town of Withernsea and Hornsea are worth a visit - and inland - Beverley is a very pleasant market town.

The property is superb.
I can not find a negative word to say. Everything has been well thought out, both inside and out, allowing for an opportunity for a lovely barbecue should you wish, weather permitting, on the good sized private patio. It is ideally located for visiting areas of interest including local beaches. The owner is lovely, very friendly and also very knowledgeable. He offered us points of interest (new to visiting this area) and went out of his way to make our stay extra special. A lovely welcome pack awaited us, he's even thinking of our four legged friends. We found a surprise gift next to the bowl and mat he provides (should you need to use them)
