What our customers say about their holidays
Katharine - Verified booking
The property was clean, well equipped and comfortable.
The hot tub was a lovely extra and the reason we booked the property. There were fresh flowers in lots of the rooms downstairs and a sachet of cappuccino and a biscuit x4. Bedding and towels were fresh and clean. The owner popped in to say hello the morning after our arrival and lives just across the field at the back. Silver Crooks could be so much better. The upstairs shower was little more than a dribble and the downstairs only a little better. The bed in the master bedroom despite being comfortable, was really creaky. We had quite disturbed sleep and left a day early. When it rained the water leaked through the conservatory roof and we were often mopping and trying to catch it in the mop bucket. The kickboard under the dishwasher came off on our toes every time the dishwasher door was opened. Cars move very fast on the road outside so we had to use the car to get into the village as there was no footpath and the route across the fields was too muddy to use. The property itself is full of old vintage charm. It would have been nice if the welcome features included a small basket of local produce, some milk or tea. A first basket of logs or a fire being set up in the grate in case it was needed would have been a nice touch. The cupboards were totally bare, not even a pinch of salt and pepper could be found so you will need to bring EVERYTHING with you.

Fantastic stay at this property, it was the perfect to get away for a quiet weekend of celebration with family.
The biggest selling point, for me, is the garden, which is a really good size. The patio/decking area is great, more than big enough for us (party of 8 plus a 3yo) to spend the afternoon/evening having a BBQ. There is a fantastic bamboo area and it's the kind of garden you can have a stroll around and visit all the nooks and crannies. Interior is well furnished and the beds are comfortable, we all slept well. There is ample dining space and plenty of separate rooms, so that if you are a large group you can be doing different things and not always on top of each other. There is not a lot of surrounding infrastructure (that is to be expected, based on the type of property) but there is a newsagent and pub at the top of the hill which takes around 10-15 mins to stroll up or would take 1-3 minutes by car. There is plenty of parking both at the property and in the nearby village square. All in all, a fantastic place for a short break.

Beautiful property and amazing grounds.
The house had absolutely everything we needed. Lovely welcome pack when we arrived. Everything you could want in the kitchen to prepare, cook and serve family meals. The dining table fitted us all around it perfectly. Beds were very comfortable, bathrooms really clean, the walk-in wardrobe in the master bedroom was a real treat. Downstairs was very spacious, with a brilliant and cosy log burner in the lounge. The conservatory was glorious in the sunshine. The Xbox in the lounge and the outdoor games room were a wonderful bonus. We loved the patio area, the fish pond, the swings and the football net on the top field was an absolute winner with our son. The washer and dryer were also super handy when needed. The owner was very friendly and helpful when we had any queries. We would thoroughly recommend this property to our family and friends.

Wow! What an absolutely beautiful, bright and peaceful place.
We felt at home as soon as we stepped through the door. A thoughtful welcome basket of home-made and locally produced goodies, flowers, shower gel and shampoo in bathrooms, hairdryers and a selection of games and books. Plenty of space, comfortable beds and great showers, A meadow and woodland walk within the grounds where you can listen to the buzzing of bees, chirping of birds and a cricket symphony whilst meeting wildlife including various species of butterflies and tiny toad offspring. The perfect base to explore Devon and Cornwallâs stunning coastline and beaches. We are a family of 6 adults and a dog and this place ticked all our boxes and provided plenty of space for all. I would definitely recommend a holiday here.

A beautiful and tranquil location with woodland walks from the door.
Beaches within a 20 minute drive. Perfect for visiting North Devon and Cornwall. Dog friendly with a secure garden. Our puppy loved chasing the daddy-long-legs through the long grass! Clean and tidy kitchen with dining/living area well presented. We loved the comfy sofas and the wood burner for chilly evenings. The bedrooms were cosy with super comfy beds, and we were provided with beautifully scented organic toiletries in the bathrooms. We really enjoyed the welcoming hamper of goodies championing local produce â especially the sour dough bread (thank you Adam) and eggs, laid on the farm. Will be back again!
