  A superb small, but perfectly formed, hideaway located on the headland at Selsey.

  I spent a magical week exploring the coastline directly outside the property and further afield - Bracklesham Bay/the Witterings are only a short drive away. I went further afield to Bognor and Worthing as well as into Chichester. It was quite heavenly being able to hear the waves crashing from inside The Hideout and I spent many hours photographing the enormous and quite magnificent skies! I met some very friendly locals who were always keen to stand and wax lyrical about living in Selsey. It was so lovely to be able to take one of the beach chairs, left for ones use by the property owners, with a blanket and a book and sit on the beach until it was too dark to see and not have to make the effort to make a long drive home just a 30 second walk back to the property! Carole was friendly and kept in touch by text as we kept missing each other in person until the last day! A lovely bottle of rosé and some milk and water was left in the fridge which was a nice touch. Top quality linens and towels with extra blankets and enormous beach towels available as well. One minor point I hadn't quite cottoned on to is that there is no oven, but good quality hob and microwave to use if you need to cook. All in all, I'd definitely go back for another week of beach heaven.

  Hi Rupert and Helen, thank you for the use of your lovely holiday home.

  We loved the lovely spacious open and roomy areas. The WIFI worked well in all areas, hot water was plentiful, beds clean and very comfortable. Bathrooms, showers, all to a very high standard, appreciated by all. On the other hand. On arrival we found all the locks stiff and difficult to turn on entry. Plus key labelling could help. Dirty or poorly cleaned crockery, cookware and frying pan handle had to be put back on, on arrival. Third double bedroom would benefit from some noise attenuation to reduce boiler/water pipes/shower. It disturbed my sons sleep. Also outside seating cushions were wet, the cover not keeping the water out. We have left them dry and in the Games room under the Bar billiards table. Back to the positive, nice to have toys and books for our granddaughter we spent a thoroughly good time having our first family holiday for a long time. The games room was a big hit. We also experienced the aurora borealis during the night of the solar storm this made an extra special experience in the garden. Thank you once again for the welcoming beers.   The Hideout was perfect, exactly as described in the write up.

  It was immaculate and fully equipped with everything we needed. The beach was right outside, (perfect for an early morning swim) and the waves could be heard from the garden which was very private and so relaxing. Carol and Steve were so welcoming and such happy people, which is understandable living in such an idyllic place. I walked early every morning with my dog and often saw the sun rise, it is a very dog friendly place and walks did take a long time as everyone wanted to stop and talk. We had meals at the Lighthouse Inn and would recommend it, friendly staff, good food and a lovely garden. Another must is Paddy's Plaice, the fish and chips were delicious and recommended by all the locals. The beach near the Hideout is pebbles but there is also a lovely sandy beach in West Wittering (that allows dogs) that is a short drive away. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to relax and 'get away from it all.' A big thank you to Carol and Steve it was a brilliant holiday. Julie and Martin...and Bert.

  The property itself was good, and useable but with a number of caveats which may or may not affect your confidence in booking it.

  The twin bedded bedroom can only be accessed by passing through the double bedroom with implications for privacy in the double bedroom and requires users of the twin bedded bedroom to access the lounge and kitchen via the outside of the property if they are needing to avoid disturbing the occupants of the double bedroom. There was a complete absence of joining instructions other than the keycode combination and inaccurate keysafe instructions in the lid of the keysafe. In the absence of such instructions I had problems operating the keysafe to access the property, a day without hot water pending the owner providing instructions as to how this should be turned on and problems finding the name and password for the wifi as the owner had not provided these or given instructions on which of the various electronic boxes was the router or its location. This meant that I had a day of hassle whilst I contacted Sykes and the owner to get these issues resolved.

  What an absolute gem!

  I was in need of a recharge by the coast and found this place which looked perfect for my dog and I. To be so close to the sea was just amazing. At low tide in the morning and evening I could take just a few steps from The Hideout and be out walking my dog along a glorious sandy beach with hardly anyone but a few other locals walking their dogs in sight. I enjoyed a beautiful sunset with the beach to myself on the Saturday night. Loved listening to the waves when I relaxed in the garden to give my dog a rest from all the walking. It's a little suntrap! The accommodation has everything you could need, is really comfortable, and Carol the host was so helpful whenever I had a question. The perfect place to relax, enjoy coastal walks and with really friendly locals. Highly recommend and I will be returning!
