What our customers say about their holidays
Miss Worrell - Verified booking
Idyllic and peaceful location with views over a wildflower hay meadow (in May) to woodland beyond, and the shepherd's hut was so warm and cosy that I think even in winter it would have been a great place to spend time. We spotted buzzards, kite and bats, and heard owls hooting at night. We explored the local area on foot and it really is a beautiful setting, with many walks straight from the door. Also a short drive to some bigger hills, where the views were just stunning. We had some great days out walking, along with evenings around the fire pit. The nearby Three Horseshoes pub serves a great Sunday roast, and it's only a short walk to the Canalside Cafe in the village, which does strong coffee, homemade cakes, breakfasts, lunches, and curries to eat in or take away, as well as being a shop and post office. A real asset in a lovely village.

Very peaceful and comfortable stay at the Shepards Hut Retreat.
It was a wonderful place to be - within beautiful surroundings together with a fully equipped kitchen and clean bathroom toilet area, with plenty of hot water. Field is very well kept by roy's grass cutting. The bed and linen was dreamy with lovely comfortable pillows. All the little things are provided solar light, usb charging point and wood stove accessories. The folks at the farm next door are a quiet private family, they also provide free range eggs, homemade apple juice and wood for the stove in the shed via an honesty box. Beautiful starry canopy overhead unhindered by light pollution together with the resident cow and calf family overlooking the perimeter fence, this place is a little piece of heaven of grid. Rest and simplicity with a nod to the American home ranch. Stay you wont be disappointed. Vanessa and Bo

Kavieng was a superb getaway for a week, the accommodation was spotless and perfectly as described/illustrated, in fact it surpassed our expectations, it really is in a lovely spot and extremely well look after.
Vicky and Stuart can't do enough for you, from the tasty welcome pack to the 'things you may have forgotten' to there warm welcoming personalities, they have all bases covered. Lots of local walks from the door to enjoy in what is a stunning location (albeit largely wet during our stay), definitely worth a walk to the Dragon where you can be greeted with a smile and a good pint or further afield enjoy Sugar Loaf. Plenty of places to eat within a short hop, Abergavenny offers local supermarkets and a wide selection of restaurants, would recommend Casa Bianca, that was nice but slightly further away but worth the trip is Hunters Moon, 13th century pub, but you do need to book a meal in advance. Loved this holiday property and would highly recommend, enjoy, you won't be disappointed if you are after a quiet getaway!

Really nice place to stay, with a beautiful backdrop of rolling hills.
The area is gorgeous and we had a great time horse riding at Llangorse Multi Activity Centre. The lake has a nice walk around it and there is a good route through the fields to the village. The farm is lovely, the setup is very sweet and the hut and kitchen are very clean. Roy and his family are such lovely people and their dog Jess is very friendly and came to say hello a fair amount :)) There are a few things that could be improved: - There was no recycling bin so we took ours home with us but would be good to have facilities on site. - The kitchen is overall well kitted out but could do with a ladle or two (as we struggled with serving food) and more knives. We had a wonderful stay and canât wait to visit Wales again soon! :))
