What our customers say about their holidays

Should have been better for the price.
Laurel cottage was let down by Dreams not paying attention to the details which turn a good holiday into a great one. Specifically and to help Dreams improve the cottage for the future: No welcome pack - not even milk to make a cup of tea. Cottage not as clean as we would have expected especially as access was not permitted until 5.00 pm. The armchair, settee, toilet and towel rail were tired and the windows very dirty. Printed TV instructions were inadequate but luckily someone had left a scrap of paper on which they had written how to operate the set. There was no oven glove but there were dishwasher tablets even though there was no dishwasher. There were no facilities for recycling and quite a few of the lounge light bulbs didn't work. The outdoor seating area is small and doesn't gets the sun and the archway joining Laurel Cottage to Magnolia Cottage could do with rethatching. The website and cottage details mention a pub near by.....it is closed and looks like it has been for about two years. On the plus side, the bed was extremely comfortable and the cottage nice and cool after a warm day's walking in the beautiful surrounding Dorset countryside. We enjoyed our stay but Dreams should take time and care to keep Laurel Cottage in the condition it and the price deserves.

On arrival it was a nightmare to drop off our belongings as the property was tucked away in a corner on a one way system.
We had to access another property before we could get to the rental property to be greeted by no cats or dogs sign which wasnât particularly friendly. The courtyard/outside space was tiny and we certainly did not sit out in it as there was no space and needed weeding. We could not even lock the outside gate so had to stand and watch the dog outside so she couldnât escape. The house seemed tired and because of no natural night apart from a sky light at the back of the house it seemed dull. I was constantly having to clean the bathroom as blue fluff was everywhere from new towels obviously not washed before. Going by all of our socks the flooring was dirty and when I spilt water on the floor in the kitchen when wiping this up it was confirmed the floor was dirty. Iâve stayed in many holiday cottages and always left good reviews and never left a poor one but we had to be truthful, we would usually have been reluctant to leave unfortunately we were all glad to be going back to our home. For what we were charged it was simply not worth it and wished weâd gone for other places that were much better equipped. The upside Dorset is a lovely place and would love to visit there again sometime.

Great location and a comfortable place to stay in.
Quiet, lovely décor, spacious and the 2 car parking permits made it very convenient as you can park for free in Waymouth's car parks including Lodmoor's Country park so saved some money. I actually parked next to the house overnight as from 6pm to 9am it is ok with the permit but can also park in any car park at any time for as long as you want but it is a 10 min walk so with two little ones on my own would have been a bit more difficult but not impossible. There are some things that I would recommend taking: there was only one tea towel (need more as there is no dishwasher), no sugar, salt or any herbs/spices if you are planning or cooking and there was no washing up liquid or pegs for drying wet clothing (but there is a washing line outside!). The outside sitting area is very tiny. Warning: it is impossible to contact Sykes Holiday Cottages and I would suggest to the owner that maybe there is an email address if someone has an enquiry as we got very frustrated trying to find out about the car permit. We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage, it is perfect for Weymouth area.

The house was lovely, and was accurately described.
Positives: fantastically well equipped kitchen, it had everything you could possibly want including lovely big pans and loads of utensils, crockery and glassware (unlike so many holiday cottages which are woefully inadequate), king-sized bed and singles very comfortable, big sofa lovely and squishy, nice courtyard with covered area for bikes and washing, washing line, really nicely decorated, great showers, good wifi. Slight negatives: double bed a bit lumpy, TV a bit glitchy and not many channels. Things the owners should make more of in their description: make it clear there is a downstairs loo (I thought there was, but I wasn't sure), but mostly - the fantastic easy access to the beautiful Rodwell trail, which we used for running, biking and walking. Also the easy rear cycle access to the house and dry storage for the bikes :-) Overall, it was a fantastic house for a week in Weymouth, and we had no problems parking. We even stupidly locked ourselves out on one occasion, and the Dreams cottages lady had the problem sorted out - cheerfully - within half an hour. Thank you :-)

Excellent location and 20 mins in car to various places.
Sun in small garden through our morning. No grass area for dogs so headed to the fields and oastal paths, not a problem. Cottage has everything covered even coffee, washing up liquid etc. Also provide a hairdryer which was not mentioned in the description. The bed was really comfy and from John Lewis! Fab dual shower but sadly when we had a bath this leaked all through to ceiling to thd kitchen down thd beams. Sadly this had happened before as thd ceiling has yellow patches from previous leaks, I hope this gets fixed out of season as needs sorting, not good on the eye! Contacting Dream cottages/Skyes on Sunday and had a response on the Monday saying someone will be in touch, true to word on Tuesday the team called me and entered the cottage while we were out. Added extra draining liquid down the plug and this stopped the blockage but please please this must be looked at because it was a massive inconvenience to us mopping the floor and wiping thd kitchen units especially during dinner time. Would we go back or recommend....YES we would. Thank you.
