What our customers say about their holidays

We have had a lovely week at Lily Collieâs.
What a real gem of a cottage! On arrival we met Lindsay who was just lovely. Lindsay had prepped the fire and had the kettle on ready for us after our long journey. The place was spotlessly clean and had everything that we could have possibly needed. A real home from home. Pride really has been taken throughout this cottage and it shows in its presentation. Thank you for the extra touches like including bread, milk, butter, tea, coffee etc meaning that we did not have to rush out. There was even an unexpected pack for our dog. We have been on so many amazing walks, explored within the local area and beyond and yet there was still so much more we could have explored, we didnât feel ready to come home. There really is plenty to do, such a lovely area to stay and such a lovely cosy cottage to stay in. Having the cottage to come back to and cosying up in front of the fire was a real treat. Feeling very rested and relaxed after our much needed break. Thank you for having us stay at your impeccable cottage.

Wonderful, peaceful location.
Gardener's Cottage does however feel tired and a little neglected. Not luxurious, but practical and functional. Appliances were all clean and good quality. The cottage is well-equipped too. Furniture was old and uncomfortable and there were a few maintenance issues which have been shared with the owners. Beds were comfortable but when stripped, the mattresses were not very clean. The grounds around the property were lovely, walled garden a delight....but it did all feel a little rundown especially around the steading.....benches were rusty and in need of a lick of paint, flowers in pots had died off and needed replacing, leaves needed removing from in the carport.....just little things that would have made a better first impression. That said, our holiday was relaxing and refreshing but if I'm on holiday, I do prefer a little more refinement than Gardener's Cottage offers. Also, for us, no toilet facilities on the first floor was awkward and this should be mentioned in the description.

What a fabulous holiday.
We enjoyed the peace and quiet in both the cottage and superb grounds. The Walled Garden is beautiful and a haven of peace. Great for losing yourself in a good book and enjoying nature. The cottage was very well equipped, comfortable and so peaceful. Just the occasional sheep in the field behind! Lots to see and do in the local area. We are golfers and itâs a golferâs dream with so many excellent courses nearby. The new one at Maverston more or less next door is excellent, Lossiemouth great but more challenging and Cullen great fun! Excellent choice of places to eat out, but highly recommend The Seven Stills on the Whisky Trail at Dufftown. The reviews on Trip Advisor are spot on. Must book in advance as itâs small and intimate with French cooking by a French chef! A holiday here is highly recommended, and your hosts Melanie and Christian, will offer you a warm welcome and Go the extra mile to offer you a very special holiday. Enjoy.

The booking process itself through Sykes was extremely easy, quick and user-friendly.
A comprehensive confirmation was sent to us including several details from the owners. Details of location, parking and key pickups was also provided making the arrival at the cottage very straightforward. The cottage itself was immaculate and the welcome basket was indeed very welcoming! It even included treats for our dogs! Beds were comfortable and warm with lots of wardrobe and drawer space if required. Kitchen and bathroom were both spotless and had plenty of storage. Our only niggle was the shower. The pressure was very poor and we both had to use it as a hand spray. The temperature was good though and I donât know if perhaps we didnât use it properly. Would suggest perhaps that it is checked out anyway. I have chosen not to mark the cottage down because of the shower though because in every other way it was perfect and I highly recommend. Thank you very much â¤ï¸

We stayed at Lily Collie's over Easter weekend and absolutely loved it.
The owners are so kind and thoughtful towards their guests. The amenities are great, the cottage is warm, comfortable and very clean. When we arrived at our destination, there was a lovely 'welcome pack' including shortbread, hot chocolate, marshmallows, butter, marmalade, milk, bread and fresh eggs. Even the dog had a welcome basket waiting for him with warm blankets, dog bowls and dog biscuits. These things were an unexpected bonus and a very lovely thoughtful touch. We have stayed at many cottages for short breaks and holidays and never had the same kind of welcome anywhere. It was lovely. If that wasn't enough, on Easter Sunday, we had a box of chocolate eggs delivered outside the front door. These gestures are over and above and what makes a holiday very memorable. Highly recommend Lily Collie's. Great place for walking, cycling, sight-seeing, or just relaxing, etc. We loved it.
