  We had a lovely week at Bede cottage. The owners left coffee, tea and other items which was really appreciated. The beds were comfortable and I was so relieved as it seems to be the norm to put rock hard beds in cottages these days. The small, enclosed garden to the rear is great if you have a dog. You know that they can trot about safely. The owners even provided dog bowls.There is a pretty area to the front with seating, which can also be secured. We were a bit worried about noise as the cottage is between two others, but it was extremely peaceful and our neighbour was very pleasant. The cottage is ideally placed to explore the area. We went to Bamburgh Castle and beach, Cragside, Holy Island, Seahouses, the river at Etal and Kielder. You really need longer than a week in this beautiful area. What my daughter loved the most was opening the front door one morning to be greeted by several Partridges on the doorstep looking up at her. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

  This was a great lodge for 4 adults, all 60+, we had plenty of room and were very comfortable.

  Very clean and tidy and beds were already made up. We all had great nights of sleep in the very comfortable beds. Having stayed in many properties we were well prepared with a bag full of washing up liquid, dish cloths, tea towels, cleaning spray, toilet rolls, tea, coffee, sugar etc. None of this was necessary as all was provided and even milk in the fridge. The listing states “bed linen and towels included”, however the towels are two hand towels so remember to pack your bath towels - we didn’t!! Also listing states dishwasher but there is a label on it saying that’s it’s not connected. Not an issue for us as we didn’t cook/eat in the lodge so washed up the mugs we used, which we would have done anyway.

  Highly recommended. This is a really lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful rural location. We found it to be much more spacious and comfortable than the photos suggested and the outside space with an uninterrupted view over fields and hills was lovely. Although the middle of 3 properties, we found it to be very private and extremely quiet. The location was great. Just 10 mins from the A1 and Belford, which is a super friendly village with all the amenities you'd need. An expected highlight for us was a walk from the cottage to St Cuthbert's Cave, through poppy fields and farmland where we saw hares, deer and a buzzard. We loved our holiday in Northumberland and would definitely return to this cottage.

  The fridge felt warm when we arrived.

  The next morning it was still too warm to be used as a fridge. The owner was notified. We were so pleased we had not arrived with a full shop, the meat would be wasted if we had. We fully understand things break, that’s just not under control but to arrive and find a faulty fridge is not good. The temporary free standing fridge supplied by the owner had a very small freezer section, missing a shelf, and the unit did have an unpleasant smell. However we managed until the end of the rental. This was a pricey rental, and better was expected. It’s all down to the owner not checking all was well before we arrived.

  A lovely cosy traditional cottage. Its location is very rural, being a few miles out of Belford, situated in a hamlet of about 10 other cottages of mixed holiday and residential. It is so peaceful with lovely countryside views. The outside has a good enclosed rear garden, which was ideal for our dogs. The front garden is also enclosed when the wooden gate is shut, also providing a secure parking space. The kitchen is well equipped. 10 minutes in from the A1 gives good access to the Northumberland coast and 20 minutes to Bamburgh. We had a lovely short break with our two dogs and will happily return.
