A Hidden Gem â Tranquil, Romantic, and Perfect for Nature LoversWeâve just returned from our third stay on the Belchamp Hall estate, this time in the beautiful Mill House, and weâre already planning to go back. Nestled at the end of a private road in a serene and secluded setting with a pond and a wonderful view across countryside, the home offers complete peace and quiet â the perfect escape from the hustle of daily life.We personally met the owners who made us feel very welcome and advised us not to hesitate to contact them if we needed anything. The property is immaculately maintained and tastefully decorated, with every comfort thoughtfully provided. They also left a very generous welcome pack, a basket full of quality foodstuffs including delicious bread, croissants, breakfast cereal, butter, milk, as well as coffee (including Nespresso pods), tea, etc. - more than enough to avoid a trip to the supermarket as soon as you arrive. Another generous gesture is that you can also help yourselves to extra firewood for the wood stove - if you use it - at no extra cost. What makes it truly unforgettable, though, is the romantic ambiance and stunning natural surroundings. The estate offers walking trails right from the doorstep â we took our daughterâs dog for walks through woodland, open fields and along tranquil streams - she loved it!Far from any traffic or city lights, itâs rare to find a place that feels so private, yet so welcoming. If you're looking for a romantic retreat where you can truly unwind, reconnect, and enjoy the beauty of nature, this is it. Absolutely idyllic â we canât recommend it highly enough.

We had a lovely stay for October half term week.
Location to the beach is good and itâs only a short walk until you are on the beach. Holidaying with two young teenagers meant good WiFi is essential and the tech facilities were great with good wi-if, Alexa, Amazon Prime and Netflix available. The cottage is also very close to the main shopping street and the kids often headed down there too to visit Ye Old Sweet shop and browse the traditional shops - great too see so many independents there. We were also delighted that some of Frintonâs cafes/restaurants allowed dogs inside so we could have a nice lunch or dinner with doggo joining us too. The cottage itself had everything we needed and was nicely decorated, absolutely spotless and beds had good bedding and very comfortable. Nice touches like a welcome pack, everything supplied in the kitchen such as dishwasher tablets, tea towels, foil, cling film were wonderful - I donât see that very often! The only downside was that the lounge was very small and we found it difficult to watch tv or play games together (cards/chess/ etc all provided). Iâd definitely recommend for couples with young children or older children but for us we need more room for the teens to lounge about downstairs.

Lovely new built semi detached bungalow, next to a farm and with open views over the countryside.
Located in a quiet location on the outskirts of the small village of St Osyth and in easy driving distance from numerous interesting places to visit. Owners greeted us on arrival and were very friendly and helpful, and there were a few tasty welcome gifts. The cottage itself was lovely and warm (we stayed in January) and was immaculately clean. The Kitchen was well equipped with everything you needed. Bathroom was walk in shower with nice soft towels. Living area had large smart tv and large sofa, nice for cold evenings in (we thought a pouffe or foot stool would be a nice addition to put your feet up whilst relaxing). Large patio doors open out onto a small patio area with table and chairs and nicely planted garden which would be lovely in the better weather. Parking is directly in front of the food which makes unloading and loading the car very easy. Plenty of lovely places to visitâ¦.. Harwich historic harbour, The Naze for walking, wildlife and history, Brightlingsea and Frinton nice for a seaside walk. Clacton had nice bits but pier just a giant amusement arcade and avoid Walton the Naze pier at all costs ! Would definitely visit again, thank you for a lovely stay.

On first impression a very nice spacious unit but soon realised that the one and only wall cupboard with crockery and so forth was to high so could only just reach the bottom shelf.
Not enough room for food storage as there was only one small floor cupboard. Not all people can afford the luxury of dining out all the time, specially now.. Not enough work surface area as taken up by small stand alone freezer, despite there beeing plenty of room for an upright fridge freezer 500 or 600cm at the end of the unit. This would have freed up space for a more accessable wall cupboard and a floor standing food cupboard, plus by moving the washing machine into the very large wet room, a dishwasher could be installed as draining area not sutable. Anyway who wants to do washing up when on holiday. The shower room is first class and the bed was very comfatable. However all of the seats of the lounge furniture have collapsed requiring a cusion to support the seats. The TV is old fashioned, not smart type and very poor as unable to get ITV and had to spend a lot of time going through unusable channels trying to find a watchable one. We did speak to the owner who is a very nice approachable person

We had a really nice week at Flink's Barn, and the owners Christine & John were lovely.
Watching the sunset over the field with sheep in the evenings with birdsong was tranquil. We had lovely days catching up with our family and friends we hadn't seen in 3 yrs. Thaxted has many memories for us as a family, my late father in law painted the windmill around 1936 which had sails then. Highly recommend visiting this beautiful part of Essex, which has hidden gems. Flink's Barn is well situated for exploring the countryside, and interesting places to visit like Colchester, Saffron Waldron, Lavenham, go for a boat ride at Bishop's Stortford. Flink's Barn was spotlessly clean, comfortable and very welcoming. We had a lovely welcome pack of chocolate biscuits, fresh farm eggs, milk, tea, and a beautiful vase of fresh flowers and herbs that made me feel at home. Also very impressed with the rack of spices and herbs and cooking oil, it certainly felt like home from home. Thank you Christine & John for a lovely stay, our trip back to our former home county has been memorable.
