What our customers say about their holidays

A self-catering pet-friendly cottage, with kerb appeal and a pool is a rare find. So we were already off to a good start. We were able to book before the half-term peak kicked in and close enough that our child was free to join us and the price was reasonable. When we actually arrived we were blown away. The secluded, cosy spot is nestled out of the wind at the end of a impressive tree-lined driveway. Inside the house was spotless and beautifully decorated. Outstanding views were available from Helen's Ditch - an unfortunate name for the very scenic bridleway that crosses the end of the drive. Along the drive you see ponies, hares, wild birds and - in April - blossom on the trees. The Ditch leads off across the hilltop before joining a footpath two fields from Northleach. From the hilltop the view over the village is like an oil painting. The stunning village wraps around the historic church, with bird of prey soaring overhead. Blue skies, fluffy white clouds are not guaranteed, of course., but we got them. For children, the third field from the Ditch is actually the town's recreation ground which is popular with children and dog walkers and well kept. The town itself has everything needed. Shops, butcher, and choice of places to eat and drink, we even saw some live music advertised. Returning to the cottage, the kitchen is well stocked with crockery and cookware. The knives are freshly sharpened, clearly deserving the warning sign they do have. Deep sofas and arm chairs surround the fire place. This was laid, with an ample stock of bone-dry logs. There are books, games and DVDs for rainy days, and a Smart Netlfix compatible TV too and decent Wifi. Knowing the pool was small allowed us to find a swimming tether and our son - nearly at county level - was able to top up his training by swimming on the spot. This facility could have been provided, I would say, but the small pool is likely good enough for a splash around or to cool off after the spell in the steam room. The only wrinkle in the whole stay was an ants-nest under one of the pool machines. A minor annoyance I'm sure they will deal with. I want to highlight the well appointed hamper also. Often these things are useless, or just contain items sponsored by businesses looking for exposure to guests. This hamper had fresh cheese, fresh scones, fresh crusty bread, butter, clotted cream, jam, coffee and wine. If you did not shop before you arrived this would tide you over until you did . Even if you did shop, these luxuries make a material difference to your stay and are a real bonus. So, a rare find with unexpected luxuries throughout. Brilliant.

A wonderful family three days was spent by us at Arlington Mill.
(There were ten of us). It is an amazing building and is just right for a large family group. There is so much space that everyone was satisfied with their own en suite accommodation. We ate in on two nights, preparing huge banquets in the massive and well-equipped kitchen (two freezers and two fridges!). The Catherine Wheel Inn is a stone's throw up the road and did us proud on one evening. This mill is an amazing place and there is so much to see in the village and surrounding area. It is a delightful part of the Cotswolds. Just one or two minor gripes. When using previous rented accommodation we have usually had a TV set in the bedrooms. Arlington Mill does not, though we were probably too tired to bother, anyway! The TV in the lounge appears only to receive programmes via Sky as Freeview failed to pick up any signal. The soundbar failed to switch on and is very precariously attached to the set. I am familiar with the model and it seemed to be inverted? We tried everything to get it into action, but it seemed dead. We brought DVD's with us for the grandchildren but were unable to use them as the player was not connected to the set and the leads appeared to be missing. The heating system is quite complex and not to be messed with! The timer appeared to be incorrectly set though we were frightened to fiddle with it and left it well alone! In leaving it as it was the heating seemed to come on very late in the evening and hardly at all in the morning when we were getting up. The master bedroom, however, was always warm. As a result, we had to purchase heaps of logs and used the very efficient log burner to heat the dinning and associated lounge area where we spent most of our time. These are only minor gripes about a holiday let which is second to none. It certainly has the 'wow factor' and is well worth the money. Congratulations to the owners who have done a great restoration job on what is a wonderful old building of some significance.

We stayed here for a long weekend with our dog. The long driveway to the property sets the scene, you drive past the horses, sheep and donkeys and you know that you are somewhere truly peaceful. The cottage is stunning, everything is immaculate, the decor is luxurious. It looks just like in the pictures on the booking website We had an amazing hamper with milk, butter, jam, clotted cream, scones, bread, apple juice, coffee, wine. The 3 bedrooms are all beautiful, the beds were super comfortable, the master bedroom is gorgeous with the huge en-suite with heated flooring, you can look at the stars when you are having a bath. The log fire in the lounge is so cosy, you can curl up on the sofa and watch tv. The kitchen is fully equipped with washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, plenty of cutlery, utensils etc. The indoor pool is fantastic, the steam room was great, there is also a shower and toilet in the pool room. It was very clean. You are a ten minute walk from Northleach which has several good pubs that serve food. You are in an ideal spot to go and explore the Cotswolds. The garden being enclosed gave me peace of mind, my dog is very curious but she could wander about the garden and could not escape. Jim and Susie the owners were brilliant, very kind and thoughtful. Jim showed us how to use the steam room and even gave me a quick lesson in lighting the fire which i needed. We will definitely return.

This cottage is very well equipped and very clean.
In particular the welcome gifts were exceptional. The kitchen/dining room in the side extension was excellent. Chipping Campden was an excellent place to celebrate New Year. The whole main street was decked with festive lights. We ate out in Michaels, Eight Bells Inn and the Noel Hotel - the food and service in all three was very good. However, we felt the cottage heating systems meant the cottage felt cool throughout and cold in certain areas. We struggled to interpret the instructions and were unable to advance the heating system to get heat during the day; or to raise the temperature. It could be just a case of re-writing the instructions so that they are easier to understand. This is a complex issue and I have sent a separate email to Manor Cottages giving more details. We managed to cope throughout our stay as I (learning from previous experiences) had brought with me a couple of small electric heaters. By moving these around to the rooms we were in from time to time gave us the comfort we were expecting. This was particularly needed during New Years Day as we were confined to the cottage all day by gales and heavy rain. I also feel the need to improve things in the small bedroom. Again I have made some suggestions in my email to Manor Cottages.

We stayed at Catton Abbey cottage for two weeks from the 1st of June. The cottage is beautiful well worth every penny we paid for it! It has a fully enclosed garden and patio (so perfect for the children). There are three bedrooms each with their own bathrooms. The master suite has a bathroom the size of a single bedroom, his and her sinks with a shower big enough for two and a large freestanding deep bath for long soaks. If you shower in the evening you can gaze at the stars through the double dormer window. Within a day or two of arriving my husband and I were both ill. We did a Waitrose shop online before we left home. We were very lucky as we couldnât do any shopping for bread and milk et cetera for nearly a week. Susie and Jim (the owners who live next door) were so kind they texted every morning to see how we were and did we need anything; we couldnât have managed without them. The swimming pool is amazing and the temperature was perfect. If you are contemplating this cottage for your holiday (Cotswolds are beautiful at this time of year) or even just for a relaxing long weekend we would wholeheartedly recommend it. We will definitely be going back! Complaints NONE Would we recommend it YES David & Sue
