What our customers say about their holidays
Mr Foreman - Verified booking
Pinfold Cottage is ideally located in the heart of Helmsley with all its attractions close to the door. We arrived in 3 cars and were initially concerned about parking but we found adequate spaces on Canons Garth Lane and Carlton Lane, in addition to the one allocated parking space in the courtyard. The Cottage is generally spacious, the only criticism being the ‘en-suite’ in one of the bedrooms which is very small. The downstairs toilet did become a substitute facility, especially when needing the use of a decent sized sink for shaving etc. The kitchen provides all the necessary requirements with a more than adequate quantity of cutlery, crockery and glasses. The property is warm with underfloor heating and the use of a wood burner in the lounge which we used as the outside temperature dropped to freezing. Two points to note 1) don’t follow the navigation instructions taking you up Elmslac Close at the side of the Black Swan, instead drive up Canons Garth Lane to the courtyard and 2) if using the back gate onto Elmslac Close to walk into town be careful of the 5 steps onto the lane. They weren’t well lit and a face plant was only just avoided. We had a great time and really enjoyed the Cottage.

Arrived at this property and it became obvious the 'parking' was not at the property but wherever you could find on the road into the town centre.
We then went through an alleyway with broken glass and dog mess into the 'courtyard' gate is rotten and doesn't lock, covered in weeds and cigarette butt's. On entering the property it became obvious this property hadn't been properly cleaned for some time. You couldn't see through the kitchen window. The filth in the kitchen cupboards and chairs and floors was disgusting. The boiler wasn't working and we were told to turn it off with the noise coming from it.We phoned the owner hoping she would be appalled and we were told the cleaners hadn't been yet and hopefully someone would be out to look at the boiler the next day!I sent several photos to the owner,no reply!the cleaners turned up and said they were told to come back and do more cleaning. This was not a weeks level of dirt,I doubt it had had a proper clean for months. There was new towels and bedding with hairs all over them.No light fittings working at the top of the landing.Stains all over the sofa and chair. We left as we could not have stayed there, fithy and not as described and no hot water or heating.I would advise anyone to reconsider if thinking of staying here, still waiting for our refund

We had a group of 20 ladies for a girly weekend, as we do every year.
The quality and standard of the cottage was head and shoulders above other cottages we have stayed in. The booking process was seamless, and contacting the owner was very simple. The owner was very approachable and welcoming. The owner went above and beyond by not only providing 3 towels per person for the bathrooms but also extra towels provided for the hot tub. It was a really nice touch to have a hamper waiting for you when you arrive, as well as basic supplies like bread, milk, dishcloths and tea towels, as well as dishwasher tablets, etc. There is enough seating round the dining table with plenty of space, as well as plenty of room in the two sitting rooms. The bedrooms were spacious with comfortable, clean beds and the decoration throughout was very modern. We got home yesterday and have already contacted the owner to book again for our trip next year!

We have stayed in a fair few cottages over the years and though some were lovely many were extremely disappointing and a complete let down. Many have been period cottages but for some reason that resulted in quaint equals dingy and dirty, Pinfold cottage looked amazing on the website and the reality was a real treat. It was modern but cosy , clean and comfortable and had everything needed for a week away. Couldn’t fault it The cottage was situated in a great location too with everything a short walk away. Helmsley is la lovely town and obviously the area is beautiful We had a fantastic holiday and returning to Pinfold cottage after a days walking was a real luxury

DON'T BOOK THIS PROPERTY.
This property is not as listed. Dusty, dirty and poorly maintained. Being greeted by a beer bottle full of cigarette ends, as I entered the Courtyard to collect the key was not a great first impression. Cobwebs. Broken sink tap. Dribbling shower. Fridge was filthy. No functional freezer box, these were just a handful of the issues. Way below expectations of cleanliness and not as the photos show. Over £1000 for a week in a property like this is robbery! Tried calling the owners twice on arrival day, but went straight to voicemail. They are now refusing any compensation.
