What our customers say about their holidays
Natalie - Verified booking
We were sceptical about the property based on previous reviews, but were pleasantly surprised when we arrived.
The house was clean on appearance, but having 2 young grandchildren with us, we did have to hunt for lost toys under furniture etc throughout the week - and I would say these were not pulled out and hovered under/ dusted for some time! Though this did not impact our stay. I think important for the owners to know. The hot tub is definitely not being maintained properly. We have a hot tub at home. It appeared clean (apart from a few bits of debris/sand which youâd expect) but after just one use , the water started to go stagnant (green and smelly!) on Sunday / Monday. My husband checked and cleaned the filter (it had clearly not been cleaned for a considerable period of time) and we brought some chlorine with us from home (based on previous reviews) so were able to use again the next day! A contact number for the maintenance people or advice in the property booklet and access to chemicals would be helpful here! Every other property weâve stayed in send out a maintenance clerk to check the levels at least once during our stay. Again did not impact our stay, but Iâm not sure what agreement the owners have but worth checking? Being Christmas and a large family we had a LOT of recycling. We tried to take it to the local recycling centre but as non residents were not permitted to use the facilities. Again some information on where to leave this in the handbook would be helpful here. Other than these few things, the house was well decorated with lovely furniture, and kitchen had everything we needed. Great location!

The property is in a great location, but sadly let down by a few things.
It's situated in a quiet road, within walking distance to the pub and beach, it's very secluded with the back garden backing onto fields and you can just about see the sea from the bedroom windows. But there are a few things that need addressing which you can see from other peoples comments this year. The property for us was clean, apart from the hot tub which we're not sure was emptied before our arrival. We arrived just after 3pm and it was already at 40 degrees so from the previous checkout at 10am that is very quick to get it up to temperature. There were scum marks around two of the headrests which we cleaned ourselves but over the week the whole tub started to look dirty and you could clearly see where I had drawn lines in it. I would query the chemical levels and certainly nobody came back to check it during our stay. The hot tap in the kitchen definitely doesn't work, we could only get cold water out of it and then we noticed a big puddle from the unit in the cupboard underneath the sink so stopped using it and used the kettle instead. And the rubbish bin was completely full when we arrived, we put the bin out as requested but it wasn't collected so we had to leave all our rubbish in a bag in the utility. The owner has responded and addressed comments throughout the year which is good and I think if they give it some love over the winter and make it feel a bit more homely then it could be great. We would consider it again but only once the scores & comments have improved.

Periwinkle in the beautiful Village of Crantock is a fantastic modern family house which was perfect for our family of 5 (2 adults & 3 children).
The house itself is well maintained and finished to a high standard throughout and was equipped with everything we needed. The garden is again finished to a high standard, well landscaped with the added luxury of the hot tub which is perfect for relaxing in after a long day exploring beautiful Cornwall. Whilst we didnât take our dog on this holiday the garden is well secured for a four legged friend. The hosts left us a very nice welcome gift as well as a lovely introductory greeting card. They were always on hand and very approachable if we needed anything. Crantock itself is beautiful, the house is located at the top of the village and the beach is a 10/15 minute walk. The coastal sand dunes are great to explore and the views are stunning! We took an hour walk along the coast towards Holywell Bay where youâll often find a colony of seals - itâs well worth the walk!! In terms of amenities, Crantock has a well stocked local shop as well as two pubs and a coffee/cake cafe (The Jam Jar) which doubles up as an excellent Pizzerie in the evening which also serves cocktails! Weâd not hesitate to recommend Periwinkle and itâs lovely hosts!

I wanted to write to you to say a huge thank you for everything you did in regards to me renting Heron House for my wifeâs 50th birthday. Let me start by saying that whatever I say will not convey the wonderful time we had, or how thoroughly impressed with house we all were. The house is amazing, the location is perfect, the facilities are phenomenal, the cleanliness was second to none. The house itself was very homely and filled with the highest quality of tech, furniture, cookware and crockery, the list goes on. We all had the best weekend, and treated the house with the upmost of respect and care. Appreciate the recommendation, and I can safely say that we were all unhappy to leave such a wonderful property and head back to the "real" world. Please pass on our gratitude to the housekeeper and her team for what they do, they are a credit to the property and we tried to leave the house as if we hadnât been there to make there lives as easy as possible. Thanks again to the owner, and hopefully one day we will stay at Heron House again, just wish I earned enough money to be able to make it an annual trip.

Gorgeous cottage, comfortable and very well equipped.
Great location to explore the local area and enjoy the last bit of October sunshine. During our stay we did have quite a bit of rain, unfortunately the water started coming through the back door! We thought a tea towel would suffice to soak up the leak but got through 2 beach towels trying to control the leak! It also started dripping through the roof in the breakfast room, this obviously has been an issue before as there are existing marks on the ceiling. These both need addressing! The lid on the jacuzzi is broken but this has been pointed out before on previous reviews. I think a welcome book would have been nice with info about the cottage, local area and recommendations. The welcome package of scones, tea, coffee and milk was nice, thank you! Overall a gorgeous cottage, lovely location, very clean and very well equipped just a few maintenance issues that I feel when you are paying a certain price should be addressed.
