  Oh my goodness, where to begin.

  We booked to stay at the Little Silver Owl for our 10 year anniversary (and to get away from the madness that is 2020) and we couldn’t have picked a more perfect place. The hut itself is immaculate and has everything you could possibly need...and more! The quality of everything is insane, from the Eve mattress, to the comfiest pillows I’ve ever slept on (I really need to find out what brand they were) the Nespresso machine and the shower!!! We couldn’t understand how a little hut in the middle of Devon has better heat and water pressure than our flat in London. The views, I haven’t seen anything quite like it, even on a rainy November day they were beautiful. The highlight of our trip was certainly sitting in the hot tub, looking at the stars and hearing the owls hoot to each other, there’s nothing quite like it. Peter and Lisa and the most amazing hosts, even before we arrived we had arranged a little celebration package to be waiting for us. When we arrived Peter told us “we like to leave you alone and give you your space, but if you need anything please give us a text or call”, which is just what we wanted. Peter and Lisa are so welcoming and friendly and as we were leaving we stopped to chat to a woman who worked there (sorry we didn’t manage to catch he name) and she was also so lovely, friendly and wished us a safe journey home. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left it was honestly perfection, I couldn’t fault a single thing. Thank you so much for our incredible stay, we can’t recommend the Little Silver Owl enough and we can’t wait to return!

  There are places you stay, and then there are places that stay with you. Northside is most certainly the latter. From the moment we turned down the winding Devon lanes—flanked by wild hedgerows and the occasional sheep—we knew we’d found something special. Nestled in a quiet field where the pace of life shifts with the sun, this stunning hideaway offered us a rare and welcome pause. A sanctuary. A true exhale. By day, we wandered the rolling hills straight from the hut, the South Hams opening before us like a well-worn novel. A cycle to Totnes for lunch brought its own adventure, while afternoons were spent listening to birds above from the sun-warmed patio, coffee in hand, time gently melting away. The nearby beaches—Bantham, Thurlestone, and our secret favourite, Wonnell—were food for the soul, as restorative as the sea breeze that greeted us there. As evening fell, the fire pit flickered to life and the stars arrived in quiet procession. We listened to the stillness. We slept deeply, cocooned in washed linen and soft textures. Every detail—from crafted furnishings to handmade ceramics—tells a story of care and creativity. This is more than a stay; it’s a deeply nourishing retreat. A place for reading, resting, stargazing and forgetting to check your phone. Northside isn’t just off the beaten path—it’s off the clock, off the grid, and utterly off the scale in charm.

  We had an amazing stay at Silver Owl.

  We were greeted by Peter the owner who is friendly & welcoming. The golf buggy is such a good idea and such fun to take your luggage down to your shepherds hut. On arrival was a generous welcome pack which included homemade baked fresh bread their own honey & eggs. Such a lovely touch as well as wine, fresh milk, butter, the list goes on. The shepherds hut is lovely & spacious with a comfortable king size bed with an Alexa to listen to your favourite music, a Smart Tv and has an oven for cooking if you don’t want to eat out. Everything has been thought of. The hot tub is amazing to relax unwind and take in the lovely surroundings and views whilst listening to the birds tweeting to one another. We had a nice meal at the Bell at Chittlehampton which is only a couple of miles away but you will need to drive their. We defiantly would consider returning again one day.

  We had the best time at Little Silver Owl.

  The views are more than we could have ever expected, it’s just a stunning location. The owners are so lovely, knowing they are nearby but also feeling as if it was just the two of us was perfect. We genuinely felt as if we were on our honeymoon! The welcome hamper is such a lovely extra, no need to take milk/butter or any essentials as they are all provided, the small details are just fabulous. We also loved having the golf buggy, a super fun extra! During the day we visited Croyde and Sauton Sands, which was absolutely stunning and a perfect way to spend the day (particularly Croyde Bay). We then came back every night to our hot tub under the stars, it was truly the perfect retreat. I couldn’t recommend this enough!

  Amazing little shepards hut with fantastic views and amazing hot tub.

  Shepards hut has everything you need, Peter and Lisa thought of everything. Amazing welcome hamper to get you started, the homemade apple juice was incredible. There are other shepards huts nearby, however the location and surroundings always means you are given your privacy. Very peaceful and quiet. Only 30-40 minutes drive to nearby beaches which were fantastic, we dipped in the hot tub in the morning, afternoon and night time which was great to relax. Me and my husband had a wonderful stay and will definitely returning and will be recommending to our family and friends. And finally the golf buggy was a lovely added treat to get to and from the hut.
