What our customers say about their holidays
Mr Durrant - Verified booking
The name 'Little Haven' correctly captures the essence of the property's location. It is in a beautifully quiet and secluded spot with no noise at all and very dark at night, yet only a couple of miles from the nearest village. It offers perfect access to cycling and walking routes on the moors. Cycles can be stored, by arrangement, in a very secure barn immediately adjacent. Ken, the owner, was very friendly, yet left us alone throughout the stay. There is plenty of parking space outside the front door. There are lovely views outside, best seen by opening the stable door in the kitchen area. The building itself is newly refurbished and decoration and fittings are brand new (in October 2021). The comfortable sitting room has a sofa and two arm chairs and dining table with a kitchen area which includes fridge/freezer, washing machine, two-ring ceramic hob, sink and combined microwave/oven. There is no conventional oven. There is a large TV, which we did not use! A good supply of crockery is provided. Bedroom 1 has a comfortable and new double bed and bedside tables. Bedroom 2 has two comfortable single beds and bedside tables. Both rooms have simple hanging space for clothes. All bedding is clean and new, and plenty of towels are provided. The bathroom is a good size and has a large (two person) shower cubicle with modern mixer controlled wall-mounted adjustable shower head, great water pressure and plenty of very hot water which never ran out. The sink is in a unit with storage drawers. A large electric towel rail was useful for drying towels. Heating throughout the property is from modern electric radiators which worked well - the time clocks and temperatures can be adjusted with some fiddling. Flooring throughout is laminate style, so there are no carpets to collect dirt. Instruction books for the main appliances are provided. The Wi-Fi Internet in the property worked very well (45Mbps download and 7Mbps upload), and there was good vodafone 4G mobile service. We enjoyed a meal in the Royal Oak in Great Ayton. Stokesley has plenty of places to eat, and we had excellent food in Sadler's Cafe and Bistro. Overall this is a lovely clean and modern property in a super rural location. It is very good value and we would recommend it to others.

This is a fabulous lodge, in an excellent location.
We were so lucky to have found it, it made our stay in North Yorkshire perfect. It was well situated to reach all the places we wanted to visit. It was spacious, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. It had the comfiest beds I've ever slept in. The whole lodge had a touch of luxury about it from the lovely soft carpets in the bedrooms, the chandeliers, the modern kitchen and ensuite bathrooms to the hot tub ( the only point about the hot tub we did have was it could have been a bit bigger, as we are all really tall people). The terrace area at the back was completely private and the view to the hills lovely. My daughter loved watching the rabbits and pony in the field behind us. The lodge park is gated and safe for children to play. It it situated behind a pub called The Blackwell Ox Inn, which is a great little place, with a beer garden. It mainly serves excellent Thai food, but also has other options. The pub is quite busy, but that had no impact on the lodge as it was situated just far enough away for it to be still quiet and tranquil. It was good to have somewhere to pop in after a day out, if you want to. The staff were really friendly. We would definitely recommend this place to stay.

Little Haven definitely lived up to its name! The views were breath-taking. Totally peaceful location. Ken met us on our first day to show us around and explain the hot tub etc. Then left us in peace for the duration of our stay. Sitting in the hot tub, glad of wine in hand, looking out over the peaks of north Yorkshire was a delight. Teenage kids were happy with fast WiFi, smart TV to access Netflix etc and comfy beds. There were plenty of walks of the doorstep, public footpaths lead in both directions from field. The field attached to the cottage was available for us to use with our dog. They're is a cute little stream at the bottom of the field. The only negative about the whole start is that the garden/field are not fully enclosed. However, with careful parking I could create a barrier to make a secure area for our dog. We would absolutely stay again, it was perfect for our family (single mum, 2 feral teens and a large, crazy pup). Head to the bottom of the field and turn right for a walk to The Dudley Arms. A lovely local pub. Head left and you can take a walk to the nearby farm shop and cafe followed my a trek up the Peak to see captain cooks monument.

We absolutely loved staying at Little Haven! The owner was warm, welcoming and extremely accommodating throughout our stay. The views from Little Haven are lovely and you are welcomed by the owner to make use of his neighbouring field to walk the dog if needed. You can see Captain Cooks monument from the cottage and the views from the hot tub are unrivalled on an evening. The cottage was really spacious, as there was 4 of us staying and we had enough room in the double bedroom to place our travel cot. The living room/dining room/kitchen is open plan so you are able to socialise, cook and relax with your family or friends throughout the day. There is also an outside eating area for you to enjoy the weather when dining Al Fresco. The surrounding area of Great Ayton offers you many lovely cafes, eateries and hiking days with the many walks around the area. If you are looking for a great place to stay in the North Yorkshire or Teeside areas then this is the place for you!

Had a lovely birthday weekend recently at The Stables. The bedrooms and bedding were fantastic as was all the decor with lovely personal touch of art decor throughout. The bathrooms had huge walk in showers and a wow factor. Very impressive from the minute you walk in. The kitchen is well enough equipped, just lacking an oven glove and a few more tea towels for a multiple night stay. There are a number of glasses, potentially the glass selection could do with a re vamp. There were odd numbers. Our only thought was the lounge area had only one sofa to seat 3 at the most and a chair. A larger sofa or additional two seater would have been more comfy for socialising as we were sat shoulder to shoulder. The outside area would be lovely in summer but due to the weather we didn’t use it, however we had a dip in the hot tub which was great but could do with a side screen for privacy and wind shelter. These are only minor points and would certainly go back and recommend here. Thank you.
