What our customers say about their holidays

Well, I didnt expect that!
ABSOLUTELY PERFECT... apart for the rain last 2 days haha, but even rain didnt dampen our spirits! The Cottage had everything we needed and was very welcoming. The hot tub was divine, I was hooked! As for the owners... so riendly and helpful. The fact that we felt part of this working farm made us feel good inside.. We could hear the horses every day. we could watch them in the paddock being exercised and I think the horses (Bailey.... ?) liked having us as neighbours just over the fence! The owners children when we saw them, were lovely and gave us a friendly hello.. And the sheep and lambs came to feed off the field in front of our kitchen window for a few days.. Honestly.. it was brill! One of the best things was the breathtaking pictre of the surroundings we were just dropped in the middle of! Hills, greenery and the most majestic tree in front of the Cottage with a backdrop of the best and biggest sunsets! Thankyou too Claire for allowing us a gentle departure.. not rushing us off.. and your husband came and chatted to us and offered help with the tv on our 2nd day which was appreciated. He made us feel 'invited' if you can uderstand that. We would stay again in a heartbeat.. 11 out of 10 and thank you so much for having us stay.

The good: - Great location for Malham and the Pennine Way - Lots of space in living areas and two of the bedrooms - Clean The bad: - Lacking some basics (scissors in the kitchen; saucepans big enough to cook basics for 4) - Very small and compromised bathrooms - In poor state of repair in places (large glass shower door held on with silicone, and fell off; bad smell from drains; TVs in bedrooms not working) - Layout of outdoor space leads to a total lack of privacy in garden (which is shared with the neighbouring cottage). For example, the Hot Tub is placed just a few feet from the one belonging to the neighbouring cottage, meaning no privacy if the neighbours use theirs at the same time. (Especially so if you have neighbours who spend their time smoking, drinking, swearing, shouting and arguing in the hot tub!) We eventually cut our stay short and came home a day early. The owner did offer a partial refund, reflecting some of these issues, but this has never materialised and he has since stopped answering messages asking him to honour his promises.

The holiday week we had which included being in the midst of storm CIARA was far beyond our expectations.
We not only enjoyed the warmth and comfort of this well appointed cottage we were able to use the private secluded hot tub well lit by stars and more than adequate outside lighting. We took advantage of the short walks with our pooch Rosie without the need for the car. This location had easy access to the many attractions around including Skipton and Clitheroe which are both market towns. The Spread Eagle pub is well worth a visit five minutes drive and very dog friendly with excellent food we would recommend Wednesday. Our hosts Claire Peter and the girls were very friendly and very helpful with anything we needed or information we required this also includes pip the friendly sheepdog and the pet ponies which came to greet us on arrival..This cottage experience will be something we will always remember especially in our 50th wedding anniversary year.We can't wait to return. Many thanks Ray Lorraine and Rosie the cokerpoo .

Location was beautiful, with great views and lots of local walks. It is remote, so a car is required for days out, and the local roads are often single track with passing places. The accommodation was a bit cramped for five adults. Three bath / shower rooms have been squeezed in, but the layouts are poor. One shower room is tiny, and to get to the basin in the main bathroom you have to squeeze through a gap between the bath and the toilet. Small changes would make a difference such as bins and mirrors in each of the bedrooms. Kitchen was well equipped, but we did have issues with the microwave (blew up and had to be replaced!) and the electricity tripping and being unable to find the fuse box. We added a note to the info folder for future holiday makers.

We really enjoyed our stay at Calder Farm, everything was pretty much perfect.
The setting is amazing, beautiful scenery, peace and quiet. The cottage was lovely and cosy with perfect facilities, nice and warm, we hardly needed the woodburner although it was nice to have it on. The hot tub was a real luxury, it felt great especially on a clear calm evening. The hosts Claire and Peter were really friendly, it was lovely to chat to them and understand how they have transformed their farm. We were lucky enough to see lambs being born on our last day. We heard owls and oystercatchers flying overhead, and in the nearby fields there were flocks of redwings, nuthatch and buzzard. There are of course amazing places to visit on all sides, loads of beautiful walks. Strongly recommended and we hope to return soon
